Works great with some caveats
I work off a laptop most of the time between two locations, with a large monitor at each. unfortunately the laptop HDMI socket started to fail (it is the miniature type, too small for the job) and I needed a solution in a hurry as I was working on a tight deadline. So, this device has saved the day and I am very grateful for that. It does have a few flaws though - at least on this laptop, and it is fair to say that the laptop itself is now struggling and may be the cause of these issues rather than the USB dongle itself. I think the USB system gets stressed with too much to handle. The laptop is over 3 years old now and used intensively with a full memory system. Its also Win8 which may contribute to driver / display issues? Here's the effects I've noticed:The HDMI output on the large monitor occasionally cuts out at times of high activity eg when scrolling. In Word (Office 2007 as I have the CDs for it and dont need anything better ) the red underline squiggle on spelling errors extends a wriggly line across the entire screen. I've also noticed this in some other older software. If I sleep the laptop, it doesn't always recognise the adaptor+display on waking, plugging and unplugging has no effect, I have to close and open again.I've given up playing music at the same time - the display will flicker, cut out, and the sound chops. But - it allowed me to get work done, and most of the time its very handy. I've been using it consistently for a couple of months while finishing this current job. I'll try it in my new box and give an update.

Works great, slight bit of lad
After reading a few 1* reviews of this product I was skeptical at best, but my usb c connection is dodgy and I have no additional hdmi slots. The image looks great, and my laptop registers my 2nd screen as you'd expect it to, but there's a slight lag on moving the mouse. I'd suggest using it as your second monitor while working or playing games as it can be a bit annoying.Only milliseconds, I imagine it's something you'd get used to, just a bit of user adjustment initially.Overall very happy so far, and it doesn't run as hot as people make out!

Works but not how I expected :-(
I have it plugged into a USB 3 port but can only get a max resolution of 1024 x 768. If I choose the recommended 1920 x 1080, it doesn't work. All I get are coloured lines all over the place. It could of course be a computer fault, but such low res is terrible on a 42" full HD monitor!

Worked great on my Sony 4k hdr T.V
It was great to use and easy to setup.I plugged it all in and my computer spent a min installing some drivers then it worked 1st time every time.Great for either extending or mirroring you laptop or pc screen to a T.V, I used a 4k Sony Hdr and worked fine.
