I also found that the wire connector/conductor is fairly large in size on one side of the cut but pretty darn small on the other
I find them difficult to use. Aligning + with + is not difficult. But the flat wire goes under the metal holder in the connector. I found that these were always too tight to slide the light ribbon under. So I had to CAREFULLY lift up the holder to loosten it a bit.I also found that the wire connector/conductor is fairly large in size on one side of the cut but pretty darn small on the other side. This may be why I had so much problem getting a good connection.Had to send 2 of 3 3-ft connectors back for replacement. On one the plastic latch broke off. On the other I never could get a connection. This was after recutting both sides of the wire to get a pristine connection on the wire. But I did get a 3rd connection to work so I have hope. You need good eyesight to make the connections. I wish my reading glasses were stronger.Update 2/26/2015I increased my rating. Today I received the replacement two connector cables, I found two tips from another vendor of similar equipment quite helpful. 1) remove the tape covering the adhesive on the back of the end of the strip, I used my fingers to remove some of the stickiness. I found that this slips under the prongs in the connector much more easily. 2) be sure to test the electrical connection before you close the snap/top of the connector. This vendor said the connection spots have a little wax-type coating, so you might have to move the connector slighty. After verifying the connection, close the connector to make the connection permanent.Note that in the connector, that the two prongs, under which you push the wire/tape are what makes the electrical connection. They must be in contact with the contact spots on the wire/tape. The prongs in the lid penetrate the wire strip but are not electrical connective and only serve to hold the strip securely.I also found it wise to test the electrical connection of each piece each time I finish putting up a strip. I am doing kitchen under counter lights and there are four light segments. My 4th segment failed to light when I tested just after installing the 3rd. I opened the connector clasp and manipulated the wire with the lights on to finally find the problem connection, which I found to be tempermental. So I kept the light on after I clamped the clasp and positioned the connector under the cabinet and secured it with Gorilla tape.BTW I highly recomment gorilla tape to secure the connector plastic clasps and extraneous wire.OPne final note that my wire tape strip had the cut marks not in the center of the electrical connection tabs on the tape. The vendor advised to cut evenly between the halves of the connection tabs regardless of the markings on the wire/tape.I exchanged several emails with the manufacturer and found them responsive.Overall I am pleased with the product now that I got through my issues.

A good start, but note my Cautions
These connectors make your project look far more visually appealing. You could very easily solder the light strips together with some 18Ga wire and save the $ on these connectors, but your project won't look as aesthetically pleasing.A couple of things to be aware of:- The "tape" in between the connectors tears easily so be cautious when bending them.- The price seems a bit high for what you get- When closing the "doors" on your light strips, be careful to ensure that the electrical connection points on the tape contact the metal tabs in the connector. I had to readjust my connections a couple of times to get them to work.- A couple of my connectors had incomplete connections to the tape in between the connectors. I had to open them up and solder the connections so that they made contact. I traced this down with a volt meter when I couldn't get the strips on the other side of the connector to light.- One of the closure "doors" broke the first time I tried to close it on my tape.Note: Customer Service has been awesome with Hitlights with respect to their warranty. I just sent them pictures of what was wrong with my connectors, and they sent me replacements at no charge immediately the next day.Would I buy these again? Yes, but definitely need to be careful as there are some caveats to be aware of. These aren't perfect, but a good start.I hope you found this review to be helpful, please click below to indicate that you did. Thanks

They work as intended.
These connectors do what they're supposed to do. My lighting project involved multiple strips on several shelves, running wires between each strip in series, and I was trying to stretch the intended purpose of these connectors by clipping my bare wire into one side and then clipping the other side onto the light strip. However, it doesn't hold the wire (not really the product's fault; that's not what it was intended for), so I experimented with soldering the wire into one side and then clipping the other onto the light strip, but at that point I realized it was just easier to solder my wire directly to the light strip. I ended up not using the connectors on the final assembly.I did experiment with the connectors first before deciding not to use them, and in my experience, they should work if you just want to connect two light strips end-to-end. It's a bit difficult to wedge the strip under the contacts, can take a little bit of fiddling to get a good connection, and in some cases the LED on the strip may be too close to the contacts to fit all the way into the connector; I used high density 2835 strips HitLights Premium UL-Listed High Density SMD 2835 LED Light Strip - Neutral White 4000K - 360 LEDs, 10 Ft Roll - 12V DC - 768 Lumens / 6 Watts per Foot - Indoor - Adhesive Backed - LED Tape Light and had this problem, but it all works if you're careful and double check your work along the way.All that aside, if you're running wires like I was, there's really no reason to use these.
