Good protein for anyone
I have been using this protein for years. Muscle tech provides a great tasting protein, I really like the chocolate flavor compared to other proteins, and it comes at a fair price point.

The Good and the Bad
First the good: if you're primarily interested in "how does it taste?", it's chocolatey. Single scoop in 8oz water is fine; a double scoop (if you want the advertised 8hr sustain-released protein) in 16oz of H2O is *very* chocolatey – and on-par with the consistency of an actual chocolate shake. I've also mixed it with other Whey proteins, Supergreens Mixed Berry packets, pre-workout carb (i.e. Karbolyn/Carbotein, etc), pre-workout stimulants, and Creatine HCL, and it mixes fine with all of those. Where it lacks though...The bad: packaging and powder consistency. The packaging is the usual bulk plastic bag, which wouldn't normally be so bad because I usually transfer from the bulk bags to an easier to store/access/use hard plastic container (my current "go to" is a 3lb Isopure). But the Muscletech powder in its dry state is of the same consistency as grout for tile - not gritty, but sooooo fine that it makes an absolute mess and gets everywhere. In fact, the bags arrive as a mess. There's usually powder on the outside of the bag (even though it's unopened), and that's only the start. Whatever container that your bag arrives in, open the box in (or near) a large sink to avoid an atomic cloud of mess. If possible, before removing the bag from the packing box, wipe it down with a damp paper towel (or three). Top, sides, bottom, everywhere – especially any creases or crevices. Once you’ve given it a good wipe down, remove the bag from the shipping container into a sink and – before opening it – smack the top of the bag (more than a few times) to get whatever powder may be stuck at the top and along the sides to fall/settle. This still won’t completely help, but at least it won’t be an unmitigated bomb scene now when you open the bag. After giving the bag a couple of days to settle, use a pair of scissors to carefully open the top. Some settling may still occur, with powder falling out of the top and into/around where you’re opening the bag (hopefully a sink). When it’s time to get a scoop, more likely than not, the scoop that’s included is buried in the powder – don’t go fishing for it. You’ll only make a bigger mess and end up sneezing from the powder. Instead, use a similar-sized scoop from one of your previous protein powder purchases until (one day, in the not too distant future) you successfully Indiana Jones the scoop that was included in the bag – but even then, the scoop has such a short handle, it may not be worth celebrating its eventual excavation (I still use a scoop from another protein powder container). Speaking of the powder’s consistency and the ensuing mess, the powder adheres to the sides of the inside of the bag, so be prepared to get the powder all over the hand, knuckles, and fingers that you use to scoop it out of the bag – you just will…*every* *single* *time*. For those who suggest, “why don’t you just move it to the smaller hard plastic container?” – the powder is of such a fine consistency that the mess and trouble are a bigger concern than the benefit of moving it. Every time you go to scoop it, you have to do it in such a way (precisely and methodically) that will not cause the powder to “atomic cloud” as you take a scoop – if you just shove your hand into the bag with a scooper, you will get a plume of protein powder in your face - and all over a three square block area. The same goes for putting the scoop of powder in your shaker bottle with water. If you don’t pour it ever-so-gently-and-carefully out of the scoop and into the shaker bottle, it will also “atomic cloud” up-and-out of the protein shaker bottle, leaving a mess of powder wherever you’re performing this protein powder shake surgery. Now, with all of that said, has it prevented me from re-purchasing? No, it hasn’t. Moneywise and tastewise, it’s still one of the better deals on extended-release protein powder (I liked, and regularly used, Combat protein powder, but they’ve gotten whey too expensive 😉 ).So as long as MTT doesn’t start charging more, I’ll likely remain a customer – now, if they’d ship it in a hard plastic container instead of a plastic bag, I’d be a happier customer…TL/DR; great taste - but oh, what a mess…

Excellent flavor but messy
The flavor of this protein powder is excellent. I've used it for cookies, cakes, ice cream, and several other recipes. However, the consistency is too fine. It's kinda like a powdered sugar. So as soon as you open the bag, or pour a scoop, close the bag, or agitate it any other way, even just a little bit, the dust goes airborne where you will surely breath it in as well as make a mess all over your counter. It's unavoidable. This could probably be reduced if they used a hard plastic bin instead of a bag like most other 5 pound sizes do but it will still be pretty messy. Normally I transfer protein powders from bags to another container but this one would just make a huge mess if I tried.Another thing I don't like about this powder is how much it foams in a blender. Something that usually only happens with whey protein in my experience. This is supposed to be a whey/casein blend, and slow release suggests more casein than whey, but none of my other casein powders foam up like this. I'm not saying this doesn't have casein, it's just my subjective observation. So while I love the flavor of this protein powder, the only way I'd really be willing to purchase this again is if they start offering it in a hard plastic bin rather than a bag because I'd just rather not deal with the mess every time I use it.

The perfect Brotein for Dream time!
I love this brand. The best value for the money bar none in my opinion. I can get huge quantities, with quality protein, decent flavors and good prices.I use the regular MuscleTech during the day and at night, right before bed, I mix up one of these bad boys. Let me tell you, I was VERY skeptical since I'm a die-hard chocoholic and generally hate vanilla but this vanilla was the best value and I decided to give it a chance.I've been on a cut and pounding the weights hard to maintain muscle mass and strength during the cut. I wanted to maximize protein/amino acid volume in my blood and protein muscle synthesis. So I figure getting a long-acting protein like Casein during the sleep "fast" would be a great way to do this. The good news is the protein tastes great by itself and occasionally I mix it up by tossing in cinnamon or cocoa powder or powdered peanut butter and I'm on my way to flavor town. I get an upset stomach, bloating, and gas from some powders, but not Casein. It was gentle on my gut and during this diet cycle I not only lost weight and fat, I seem to have gained a little muscle and everyone is commenting that my back and shoulders and arm actually look bigger, not just due to fat loss, but greater peak and volume and lat spread. ON A CUT! I'm no mass monster by a long shot but it's a great feeling.Just for reference I am 186cm and cut 5kg from 100kg to 95kg and was hitting the gym 4 to 5 times a day, walking cardio 6x a week and a short jog 3x times a week and roughly 1.1g of protein per lb of body weight (or 2.42g per kg if my math is right).Highly Recommended to tweak your MPS (muscle protein synthesis) to a higher level during your training cycle by taking advantage of the benefits of slow digesting protein during your 8 hours of sleep (the 8 hours or more is KEY for growth and recovery).Good luck!
