I bought a 120 volt device in the United States. This transformer converted it to 220 and it works great. No regrets. Excellent.

Can't handle rated wattage. Can't even handle 40 watts
I used this adapter for about a week. The appliance that was plugged into it stopped working, and I noticed that the case of the adapter had melted. The appliance was rated for 40 watts, the adapter was rated for 100 watts so it should not have been a problem.Clearly this adapter cannot handle the rated power and is somewhat hazardous.Note that it is not UL listed.

Worked well for step-up to 220v from 110
Used for christmas decorations we purchased outside the US that need 220v. These worked all season, and if they last the next 2 seasons we got our money's worth. Bought 3 and all worked, no failures. If you try to over draw the amps/current, of course they'll fail. Just like when you do it with your regular home outlets and trip your breaker, you gotta turn something off because you're pulling too much. So use these within their rating (maybe a bit less to be xtra safe) and they should work fine. They could be about $3-5 cheaper though.

Works great, as advertised.
I use several of these to power a couple of LED lamps I bought in Europe that I didn’t want to part with. As with all converters you want to stay well below the rated wattage (this is rated at 70 watts). My lamps each draw a max of about 25 watts. As for getting warm, they warm slightly when in use, but in my experience they have not exceeded 110F on the surface, which is just warm to the touch. So no problems in my experience.

OK, with reservations
I got this as an Amazon Warehouse deal, and when it arrived, the spring grips that hold the prongs of the plug were so loose it wouldn't make contact. I unplugged it (!) and bent the springs with a small screwdriver to tighten the contact. Works now, but with only 100 watts of power, I can't imagine how this would be versatile enough to run a hair dryer. I'm using for a 15 watt, 240 volt appliance, and I'd be hesitant to use it on anything close to 100 watts. Gets warm when plugged in, but not in use, so it will have to be unplugged when we're not using the appliance, otherwise it will add to the power bill and be a potential fire hazard.

Female socket on unit can be a loose fit.
There was really only one step in set-up and that was to select the correct input voltage. I did that and then went to charge a small 18 Volt shop tool battery (Low amp draw). The 220V socket is set up to hold a variety of 220-240 V plugs and mine was a very loose fit, so I'm not sure the contacts were great, but the charger did illuminate to show it was working. After 6 hours of charging I still had no significant charge on the battery. I cannot declare this unit at fault, as it very well could be the new charger and battery, but the loose fit is a possible cause and also a safety issue.

Compact and easy to use
I previously bought a SPÄRKEL machine and needed a step down socket. This item I found was the best option.I wonder how much does cost to install a wider range of input voltages instead of this stupid procedure

Bad voltage converter.
This unit produced smoke and emitted burning smell. This unit has only been plugged to the 220 volt electric outlet which I purchased for for less than a minute. Pulled it out and did not even attempt to plugge it in. I feared that it catch on fire. Not good.
