This is a great drone to start out with
A6-B ReviewUnboxing: I liked the packaging that the A6-B came in. It had a lot of detail about the product and what you can do with it. Inside you can find the A6-B and all of the parts that you need to get it running. The drone itself was secured in with some twist ties and was easily removed from the box.Build Quality: The quality of this makes me think you could charge more for it. I’ve had a couple crashes and usually the first thing to break is the propellers. I’ve been fortunate that I haven’t broken any propellers yet but in the event that I do, there is a little baggie of extras to replace them. The drone is made of plastic (as most are) but the plastic doesn’t feel thin and cheap. It has a good finish to it and feels sturdy. The arms for the propellers on a lot of competitor drones in this price range are flimsy and break easily however, the A6-B as mentioned above isn’t some thin and cheap plastic. The arms are very rigid and don’t flex when handled by the arms.Again, unlike the competitors the landing skid design gives the skid rigidity so there isn’t a lot of flex and doesn’t feel cheap. They were super easy to put on and a nice little added touch to the A6-B is the soft foam pads on the landing skids.I love the battery. It is constructed together inside of a frame. This includes the power button, battery meter and Micro-USB charging port. All other drones that I have bought used a non-standard charging port. This one will be nice since micro-usb cables are all over my house. The only down side is that I could not get the battery to latch inside the drone. I actually had the battery fall out of my drone once in mid-flight. Nothing broke though! The remote that comes with the A6-B is very ergonomic and fits well in my hands. Hate to sound like a broken record but compared to others the remote feels solid in your hand. All of the buttons and the joysticks are firm and responsive without that cheap feeling of play in them.Flight timeOutside Flying: I would say the biggest disappointment for me is that I haven’t actually been able to play with this outside because the slightest wind takes it away. I had a very hard time keeping control of the A6-B while outside even in low 4MPH winds. While using the A6-B outside I used both the included remote and also tried with connecting my phone to the drone. I’ll admit that I find it very cool that you can use your phone (in my case an iPhone XR) to connect to the drone’s wifi signal and watch a live video feed while flying. What I didn’t like about using my phone is that the speed of the drone propellers defaulted to 30% power. I’m guessing that this is to help the user get used to the drone controls on the phone without losing control. I didn’t realize this at first and after I took off outside I almost lost the drone because I didn’t have enough power to fight through the wind. Even after figuring this all out I couldn’t find a day where I felt confident to take the drone and test its limits in height and distance from me.The included camera is a nice touch however, once the drone gets about 50 feet away the video becomes very choppy. You can still snap your pictures that you want you just need to wait for the feed to update. It has some very bright lights on the arms that tell you which direction you are flying when the drone isn’t in headless mode. I find that to be very helpful so that you don’t get too confused while flying in the air on what direction you need to control the drone. My son’s favorite part was the “Loopdy Loop”. The drone has a built in feature to do a flip by the push of a button. It works really well and doesn’t drift too far from its original spot to perform the trick.Inside Flying: I’ve played around a lot with the trim on the A6-B and I cannot get it to hover in place. It is always going left/right/forward/backward. I have been unable to get it to just sit still. I was able to control it accurately so that I could maneuver the various obstacles that you have inside of a house but I would recommend playing with this outside. One thing that makes this drone easier than others is it has a launch/landing button. With the push of a button, it will start the rotors letting you know that you are ready for takeoff. When you are ready to land, simply push the button again and the drone will slowly lower itself until it lands and then turn the rotors off. This function works great except for outside in the wind.Overall I would rank this drone pretty good. It is well built and handles very well. I just wish that it had stronger rotors on it to fight the wind. With stronger rotors this would be a no brainer.

Fun entry level drone
I will start by saying that I have been a fan of Amcrest's other projects - notably their IP cameras. Nothing but great things to say there so when I had the chance to check out this drone - expectations were high. That said - I also know that given the price point and feature set of this drone compared to others drones on the market this would be more of an "entry level" drone.Drone comes well packaged and needs very little assembly to get it ready for flight. Included single battery came with enough charge to get flying right out of the box (full charge does take a few hours). It comes with a controller that can be used by itself but this drone can be flown with a mobile phone as well using their app. Documentation is good enough and covers all of the basics you would need to know to successfully fly and use other functions of the drone.IMO, the drone should be calibrated before you fly it. They recommend putting it on a level surface and run calibration which can be done on controller or within the app - takes just a few seconds. If you don't, the drone will wander too much in any direction right after launching. Even if you calibrate (which helps) - this drone can still wander left, right, forward or back. The controller (or in app) has a trim feature to correct this and once dialed in - the drone stays put in single spot while hovering in calm conditions. Note that I did have to have original unit replaced. It never stayed put when hovering no matter how much trimming/calibration done in calm conditions. Amcrest support was awesome and quickly replaced the item - replacement is much better in this regard.Another feature is the ability to take pictures and video. Taking photos or recording video is easy. Put in an SD card (not included) into the drone and take pics or initiate/stop video recording from controller/app. If using app, photos are stored on your phone. Video requires SD card either way. Quality is from a 720p camera and is fine but don't expect too much as a result. There is no stabilization and camera is fixed so no moving camera remotely during flight and every movement of the drone will be seen in the video. So far I have not tested the full range of distance (rated at 900+ feet) it can travel away from the controller and am not sure I want to either. I can say this unit can get away from you if you are not careful. The drone is very lightweight and slightest wind will require you to have to compensate a fair bit with the controller. I would not fly this drone in "windy" conditions - you will likely have trouble keeping it under control. Get it airborne whether relatively high above and/or away from you at even lower altitude and catches it, controller/app response may not be fast enough (or drone powerful enough to overcome the wind force) before you've lost control altogether and are hoping you can get it back before it goes somewhere you don't want it to go or becomes irretrievable. I suspect this is not something specific to this Amcrest drone but any drone of similar size, weight, function and capability.I have now flown the drone a number of times and have a lot of fun using it. Cool fun feature is the ability for the drone to do forward, backward, left to right and right to left flips! App supports VR headset too if you have one.Overall - this is a fun drone to fly, battery lasts for about 20 mins +/- and takes just a matter of a few quick minutes to be in position to be flying it! Camera works well enough to take pictures and record video - just don't expect HQ that other more expensive units (1080p or more) can produce. Know that you will be limited in where, how high, etc you will fly it based on certain weather conditions. At this price point and feature set - I would recommend checking it out.
