Great sound, extremely rugged, nice size, just perfect!
My wife and I are avid campers, boaters, sailors, kayakers, and eat outdoors every evening in the summer. We love music, and I have about 3,000 songs on my Android smartphone. I have tried about 10 or 12 different portable speakers, most of which are in a storage box in a closet because they just weren't worth using. Many of those used a headphone jack connection, because Bluetooth speakers until recently didn't have the power, battery life, or sound quality I wanted.I bought my wife a Jambox speaker and she loved using it in the kitchen, so I got her another one for her desk at work. However, the hard plastic case of the Jambox slides around if we try to use it in the boats, and when we get splashed, it isn't waterproof.I was intrigued by the design of Pyle Sound Flow speaker and decided to try it. I couldn't be happier! The rubber housing keeps it from sliding around on the dash of the motor boat in choppy water or on a table in the sailboat while heeling, and the hanging loop lets me hang it inside the cabin of the sailboat or from the ceiling light-hook loop of our tent. While I don't plan to test its waterproof capabilities by taking it to 130' while scuba diving, I am confident that it will survive even heavy splashing while using it in either the power or sail boats, or in a kayak. The switches are rubber coated for protection as is the entire housing. The unit is quite a bit heavier than a Jambox, but about the same size. The weight helps keep it in place, especially with the gripping rubber housing. It comes with a 3' USB charging cord. I initially charged it from my laptop, but on the boat, I use a USB adapter in the boat's dashboard DC plug, so I can charge it while playing music on the dash of the boat. ReVIVE PowerUP 3P Universal Car Charger & DC Splitter Adapter w/ Dual USB Rapid Charging Ports for Phones, MP3 Players, & More DC-Powered Devices.I use my Xoom with Navionics software for navigation, and also have my smartphone with me at all times while boating, and this device connects effortlessly via Bluetooth to either device. So, I can easily play stored music and playlists from either device, or can use my 4G to stream my Pandora "stations", or my YouTube music video playlist through this powerful little speaker. The possibilities are endless.Sound quality for this size speaker is the best I have found. It is rich, with a strong but not over-powering bass. Highs and mid-range are also excellent, and it puts out a deep, rich stereo sounds that sounds great even over the noise of my twin outboards. Some reviewers reported a weak, 5' Bluetooth range. Pairing it with my Motorola RAZR Maxx HD phone, it stays connected up to about 20' away. When I go beyond that range and lose the connection, it seamlessly and instantly picks back up as soon as I am in range again. That is more than enough range for using it in any of my boats, camping, eating outdoors, or even in the house in most situations. You won't be disappointed with this speaker. You can get even better sound by spending another $200 on a Bose, but I would never take a Bose camping or boating. For a rugged, waterproof, great sounding outdoor wireless speaker, this is the way to go.

Good Bluetooth Speaker for the Money
I just received this item and it sounds great. Really good sound and it gets LOUD! So loud that it's way above yelling voice if you are 20-30 ft away. You do loose some fidelity at the upper volume level (when your controlling device volume is maxed out and the speaker volume control is maxed out), but it sounds really good at a high volume just below max volume. I didn't have a problem with the bluetooth connection until the sending device (I'm using a Windows 8 phone) is about 20 ft away. The speaker did skip as soon as I took the phone behind a wall, yet it does have great connectivity when the phone is within 15-20 ft and there is no interference to the signal. This thing was charged upon arrival and has a really good battery life, will probably last all day as long as the volume isn't all the way up.The buttons are a little weird, the same button for volume controls song playback so sometimes you just want to increase the volume a little and you end up replaying the song, which can be frustrating. I recommend setting the speaker to max volume and controlling the volume and playlist from your controlling device (phone, computer, ipod, ect..)

Less than what I expected.
This is SOLID. Weighs about 1.5 lbs??? Anyway if 'feels' like a quality product. I mean it REALLY feels great! The instructions..... if you want to call them instructions..... are poor. So, off I am to figure it out how to use this on my own. There isn't much to this unit as far as controls go. Possibly that is why the instructions are poor - they didn't think it was needed. I really needed something to tell me what the color codes and blinks on the unit meant........The speakers only work on one side of the unit. If you look at both sides of the unit with a flashlight, you can see that speakers appear to be on both sides… but, the sound does not come out on both Is this by design, or a defect? Look at the picture.... you would think the unit sends out sound from all sides - I did.Range - 15 feet rather than 10 meters before it starts to break up.For controls... there is a power button, volume +-, and tracking +-. That is it.My unit is mysteriously connecting to something on its own. How can this be when I have not accepted a code? With a limited Bluetooth range, I just do not know how it is doing that. And, I cannot turn the music off. Finally, when I connected to my iPhone, the music stopped. It just connected to my phone..... no security code needed....hmm, not what I was expecting. The speaker is OK as far as sound goes. I was not blown away with the sound. At any high volume, I find that it begins to crack easily. This speaker would be OK to use on your desk at a low volume.... It would be GREAT as a paperweight. And, it does look very very nice!I am returning the unit. I was intending to use it around the pool. Only three stars here. Poor instructions, limited range, and sub par speaker sound did it for me.

Awesome wireless speaker.
This little speaker is amazing for it's size. You can take it anywhere and not worry about splashing water hurting it. I was a little doubtful about the battery size and the power rating of 2 x 15w because it would seem like the battery would go dead quickly but it doesn't. I doubt it is 15 watts RMS, more like 15w Peak to Peak but it is still much better than the phone. The battery lasts hours and the sound is better than I expected with such a small speaker. I have had this on for 4 hours, cranked up to MAX and it was still going. I bought a deck hook for hanging it. It is playing anytime I'm at the beach, cooking out back, washing the car or taking a shower. It is very handy. The only negitive thing about this is I can't keep my phone on my belt clip and walk further than 15 feet or so from the speaker before it starts breaking up. That could be my phone due to power saving. (LG Optimous Pro).I'm very happy with this purchase.
