Q: Are the wicks chemical free?

I read on their site that they do use the cotton wicks (not the metal core or lead wicks); but, my concern would be cotton itself. Cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed (with a list of toxic chemicals that would make you dizzy) crops in the world. Approximately 25% of all pesticides/herbicides are used on cotton. While I read reports having to do with the production of cotton clothing (scary), I do not know how the residue applies to cotton wicks. I've read that with clothing some of the chemicals are bleached or otherwise processed out during phases of manufacturing; however, chemicals do remain (which is why it's so important to wash cotton clothing, bed sheets, etc., before using ...and even then, you can't completely get rid of all traces of the residue). Much safer to choose organic cotton! As I said, I don't know what percentage of toxins remain on candle wicks, and I will look into this further, but I don't believe it's quite honest of the seller to claim that just because their wicks are 100% cotton that they contain "...no chemicals!" I find this misleading. So, as they say, caveat emptor!

it was close to 3 give or take a few.... I was working on a speech at my computer and had two of them burning at my kitchen table, and they had not yet burned out and I sat at that table form at least 9pm-12pm that night. Hope that helps
