Amazing for the money
Shipped in factory box, no damage. Set up was more than expected and quite playable out of the box after tuning. Quality control were, on my particular unit ( there was a QA sticker), definitely on the job. Finish more than expected for the price. Quality tuners. projects plenty of quality sound i.e. what would be expected for a small bodied guitar. Other details: has removable strap pin on body, 4 inch body depth, about the same body size as a classical but with a shorter scaled neck. Has barely noticeable 3 piece neck seam (because of well designed angled head stock). Do not see any problems. Would give 5 stars but I never give more than 4 stars unless I have owned and used a product for a significant period of time. Would recommend to a friend.

This guitar plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar
I first bought a parlor guitar that appeared to be decently made and according to the reviews it should have been. After trying to tune it for 30 minutes I gave up and returned it to amazon. I then purchased this guitar and the difference is night and day between the two. This guitar plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. It took me a few minutes to tune it and it plays excellent right out of the box. I bought this to keep in the living room instead of one of my full size guitars I use for recording. This guitar sounds so good I am going to use it in the studio to compare to other acoustics that cost thousands more than this one. If you are looking for a guitar for your son or daughter to learn on look no further and buy this guitar. You or your child will not be disapointed.

Fantastic Value
This photo shows the ST-91 body to be the same size as a classical guitar and much smaller than a dreadnought Martin. It's neck meets at the top tuning pegs of the classical. This is much bigger than a parlor guitar, but so is its sound; with it's short neck, I'm still able comfortably to play in from my armed LR chair. No beginner or player looking for a handy short-neck guitar should be disappointed in this. It's surprisingly loud and clear, attractive looking, having a nicely playable neck and fine tuning machines. Having taught private and group guitar for seven years, I've bought many beginner student guitars; this is the best inexpensive steel-string among them.

A lemon perhaps?
Inordinate amount of fret buzz out of the box that no amount of setup could remedy.

Excellent, better than acoustics costing far more money
Fantastic value for money. I have been playing (mainly electric) guitar for 35 years and needed a decent acoustic. I saw the baby brother of this at a local guitar show (the ST6-1) and was impressed. particularly with the finish and the fret work. So I ordered the larger version from Gear4Music, £90 delivered. The stock strings are a bit on the heavy side and a couple of the frets needed filing and polishing to get this to its best, but it really was already a super player straight out of the box. The finishing and general construction was better than other new acoustics I had looked at in the shops for £400, seriously. I would have no hesitation in recommending this as a beginners guitar or for someone more experienced; excellent. Don't worry about my fret fettling comment, I am a fiddler and like to get things totally perfect. It is a super instrument already, straight out of the box.
