Fits great and helps my knee pain!
It fits great and I like the pressure it puts on the part of my knee that’s been bothering me. I do feel a difference when I wear it vs without when walking and exercising.

It saved my first half- marathon
I decided to leave a review in the hope that my case would help other runners in my situation. I have been training for my first half- marathon for 13 weeks. Around the 8th week, I started to develop a pain on the lateral side of my knee, that would specially intensify as I walked downhill or down the stairs. I continued running, but as my mileage increased, the pain increased until the point where it was impossible to run. Three weeks before the race, I had a long run of 10 miles, and after the third mile, I had to stop. The pain was excruciating, and I was crushed. I thought there was no way I could run 13.1 miles. I rested for a week, but the pain was there when I went downhill or when I tried to walk a bit faster than normal. So I was at a loss and had no idea what to do. I started doing a bit of research and I concluded what my problem was: Iliotibial Band Syndrome. I was very skeptical of bands and anything that I read online that said to help, and I thought the best thing for me was to quit running for the last 2 weeks before the race and simply cross train instead. However, as time went by I was concerned that my knee was not healed. So a few days before the race, I decided to test my knee and went out for a easy jog. Disaster ! I had to quit and was not even able to run 1 mile. So I made the decision of not even showing up for the half-marathon. However, 2 days before the race, I was researching online for something that would make my knee feel better. I read many reviews and went to many running forums and websites until I stumbled upon IT band Wrap by Por-Tec. I started to read the reviews (which were incredible helpful, thank you all for taking the time to write them! ) and had a bit of hope that this might actually help me. Well, sure enough, in the morning before the race, my package arrived and I decided to run for 10 minutes and test it.At the beginning, I was unsure where to put it. The actual instructions in the package say to place it about three inches above knee cap, but the picture in the package shows it right above it. Well, I tried it both ways and I decided that three inches felt better. In my test run (one day before the race), I was able to run for 10 minutes pain free ! This was a plus, without the band, I would have been limping from my knee and in excruciating pain.race day: I decided to go to the race and give it a shot, what the heck ? I had been training for 13 weeks and the worst thing that could have happened was that I was in so much pain, that I would have to leave the race. I promised myself that at the first signal of pain, I would leave the race and be glad that I tried.I will not walk you through my thoughts on the race, lol, but I will tell you that with every stride I was waiting for the pain to kick in and make me stop. I was sure that it was coming and that I would have to abandon the race. So, miles went by and I was still running ! ha ! It worked. I did it ! 13.1 miles and the band stayed right in place and it kept me pain free all the way. After the 6th mile, I felt my knee a bit tight, but not pain.I hope this review helps,Safe running !

MUST BUY
I was very skeptical about buying something like this because it was so cheap and couldn’t see how it could actually even benefit me. After a few months of running a few days a week, I began to notice some brutal pain in my left IT band. I decided to slow down the runs and drop the mileage back and take more time in between days to rest/recover. Realizing it didn’t matter how much I did that because even anything after about a mile to 2 miles, the pain would be extremely uncomfortable and would push through.Decided to use this for the first time today, on an 8 mile run. Needless to say, it was one of the best runs. I’ve had in a very long time. The pain was about a one out of 10. The only issue I noticed was as soon as I took off the strap, the pain all rushed right back into that spot.My only suggestion would be to keep the strap on for a little while after the run and let the pain slowly subside before you remove the strap completely.

Whoa! This can make your IT Band much worse!
First some basics to confirm what others have said: This comes with remarkably little instruction on the exact placement of the band. They provide three brief sentences. And it's odd because the strap has a pad that needs to be placed exactly somewhere, but just where is unclear. So I went to their web site seeking a video, and they had one, but it was about 20 seconds long and didn't provide fitting instructions. But, like most of you with IT Band problems, I've already done enough Dr. Internet research to know what and where the problem is.In recent weeks my running decreased from 6 miles per outing to less than 1 mile as the IT pain increase. I'm only now starting to foam roll, and I thought I'd give the Pro-Tec Band a try. I strapped it on and went for a run. My goal was 3 easy miles. I got to about 1 mile, and the familiar twinge began, so I stepped a bit more gingerly, and found that with the right pace, I could run and keep the pain to a manageable threshold. We're talking twinges that didn't affect gait, but no stabbing pains as I'm sure you're all familiar with. I avoided hills, of course, but I noticed that switching to the other side of the street (to run facing traffic) made a huge jump in pain for my left leg, so I went back to my norm: running with traffic. (Don't judge...I have my reasons.)So I made it through the 3 miles and was coming to a busy cross street and decided to call it a day, just as the twinges crossed into "stabbing pain" territory. I shut off my Garmin, and I pulled off the Pro-Tec IT Band. And Holy Mother of ___ was there an intense explosion of pain from my left knee! This run had succeeded in magnifying the pain beyond belief. I literally had to limp the mile home. Normally, after a run with IT twinges, I could do a post-run cooldown walk with no pain whatsoever, but not now. In the two days that followed, I limped throughout the day at work and had to take Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Today the pain is within limits, but I don't see myself running anytime soon. In short, I'm much worse off than I was before. So there are several lessons here:1 -- This band does indeed isolate your IT Band, and it does SOMETHING.2 -- WHAT that something is may vary. Clearly, some people are happy, but you won't know until you try it.3 -- On your trial run, I suggest no more than a mile, and if you're feeling pain, you have to figure it'll be many times worse when you stop.4 -- Be psychologically prepared that if you try this band, you're risking not being able to run -- at all -- for several weeks/months afterward.Needless to say, I returned mine. That thing is a torture device.
