For cellular model, is it unlocked?

The one I just received was NOT unlocked. Great big hassle and waste of my time. Would only allow AT&T - no Verizon.

Is this eligible for Apple Care?

The unit I received had a note on the left side of the Settings page stating how many day remained to sign up for Apple Care. Can't speak for every unit, maybe I was lucky. The unit I got looked brand new but packed in a plain white box, not a typical Apple box. YMMV
