A midi controller without the latency
A little preface. I am a professional musician, mostly a studio guy, but I play live as well. My band is going on tour this fall, and at some moment I realized that out of 16 songs that we’re going to perform only 2 use guitar, the rest instruments are synths. I’m a guitar player, I can’t play keys well enough to perform in public. That means I literally don’t have anything to do on stage during the show. Weird! I decided to play guitar with the synth sound . It’s the 21st century, right? I’ve tried multiple guitar-to-midi converters and I found all of them unusable because of the latency. Any audio to midi controller needs some time to recognize the pitch of the note, at least 1 full period of the fundamental frequency oscillation. So I pick the string, and I hear the sound after a little while, this time is short, but it becomes very noticeable while playing low notes. This makes me feel the instrument unnatural. Playing chords is even more unnatural , and glitchy. This is physics, the problem can’t be solved without changing the principle of conversion. Jammy doesn’t have the latency issue because it knows the note you want to play before you even pick it. Each fret contains multiple contact terminals, you put the finger on the string, the string makes a contact with the corresponding contact, that’s it, simple and effective. Playing Jammy feels natural on any string, any note. It feels literally like playing keys. Playing chords with the piano sound feels just amazing. That’s why I satisfied with this little thing a lot and would definitely use it on tour. I should remark that the instrument also looks pretty cool. It can be dissembled but I don’t want to do that. I have 4 regular guitars, and Jammy feels two times smaller than the normal guitar even when it is assembled. I’m interested only in the MIDI controller functionality, but it also has the basic acoustic and electric guitar sounds preinstalled. Jammy can be connected to the guitar amp directly, or you can play it in your the headphones. You need to install the app on your phone to update the firmware (highly recommended!), and to change the tuning if needed. But it is functional without the app. Jammy as the midi interface worked instantly in Pro Tools, Ableton, and Cubase, I just plugged it in the USB, and that’s it, no additional manipulations needed. Impressive! A couple of notes. Firstly, as the neck is splitted into 2 parts, the string that you press with the left hand, and the string that you pick with you right hand, are physically separate strings. That felt very weird first, but I got used to it in 5 min. This makes Jammy more a controller than a guitar. Honestly I would prefer the string system to be traditional. Make a PRO, non portable version? Secondly, the firmware still needs some improvements. It already works pretty well for me, as the music I play is simple, but there’s always some room for improvement. Thirdly, I would prefer the USB type B outlet in the instrument as more mechanically reliable, and robust than the USB-c That’s it! Thank you guys, I see you’ve invested a lot of love in your product, and I really appreciate that. Keep going!

Thought it would be better than Jamstik, but I think it's worse.
I own the Jamstick and was excited about Jammy as the marketing would have you believe they have solved the problems of sensitivity and lag that the Jamstik suffers from. Alas, Jammy seems to be worse. If you download the Jammy app, and watch the detailed videos, the young man even explains how to try to overcome the shortcomings of Jammy, in that certain strings aren't sensitive enough and slides aren't picked up, and I tried all these things, but it still doesn't work. These types of electronic guitars a great idea and I hope that someone cracks the code someday, but I just don't think the technology is ready yet. Save your money. There are a bunch of five star reviews of this product, and honestly they must be promoters who were paid to buy the product and leave good reviews. They should instead put their marketing budget into R&D and create a better product.

Keep experimenting
Lots of potential with this thing. Still working on figuring it out myself. I found one of the software updates threw off my settings a bit and I havent been able to get it back to exactly how I liked it but they continue to work on it, so it will be interesting to see how much it advances in the future

Great product, great value, high quality, super portable. Everything it claims to be and more...
I’ll start by saying that I’m a complete beginner to playing the guitar as a whole. I started playing acoustic but wanted something I could take with me to more places. Acoustic wasn’t really convenient for that due to the size, lack of portability, etc etc. the jammy seemed to be much more portable, convenient, and travel friendly (and it is by far. You can break it down to fit in the space of a shoe box almost.) so I decided to try it out. The first thing I noticed was the insanely professional packaging, and quality of the product from a company I wasn’t very familiar with which was a huge plus and exceeded my expectations by a long shot. There’s a great feel to the device, much more similar to an actual guitar and the weight of it gives you a good impression that it’s not just some plastic piece of junk. It fit together perfectly and easily and you can tell the build quality of the device is very high. I connected the device to my phone via the app, updated the firmware and I have to say, I’ve had a blast playing with the different sounds and effects you can Change within the app itself. I’ve heard there’s even more new firmware in the works and I’m excited to see what that has to offer. Overall awesome product, great buy, super portable, super responsive, super easy, super quality and everything I was looking for and then some. I’d highly recommend for anyone beginner all the way to advanced guitar enthusiasts.

ambitious, but needs a lot more work before it's worth getting
It drops notes constantly, adds it's own notes constantly. the idea is nice but it's almost impossible to get any sort of coherent performance out of it.

Loved the portability. Seems to work fine once the app is updated. Haven't tried MIDI input yet. All in all, satisfied with my choice...

The perfect solution for a guitarist like me who can't play piano. Or indeed anything else other than a guitar. An orchestra at my fingertips but it helps if you have a good sound card in your PC.
