As others have said, they are sharp edges. But what ductwork isn’t sharp. I recommend wearing gloves. Worked as needed plugged my holes and still have air to come through. I highly recommend these.

Installation into chicken coop was relatively easy and painless. The vents are working perfectly a year on.

This is a much better fit for my 8" flex ducting than the prior one I tried. As mentioned in other reviews, the louvres are SHARP. Both of us were bleeding by the time we were done. The bug "grill" is pretty nice; small enough to keep out the mosquitoes. After penetrating the siding and sheathing, there was plenty of room left to secure the flex ducting.

This worked for my purposes. My house has return air through the walls. I had the furnace replaced and it pulls more air than the old one did. After checking the duct, I realized it was spliced into a sealed space. I removed the extension and covered the hole but the force from it kicking on and off would cause the existing duct to pop. I tried a couple different grilles but they all caused whistling. This one doesn't. The louvers are extremely thin and in turn are very sharp. I sliced my hand open while installing it without even realizing it. I doubt my 6 mil nitrile gloves would have saved me. Be careful!

These covers are well made, and fit perfectly over the two round 8" air intake vents in my basement. The vents come with a metal mesh lining that is about 1/8 of an inch per mesh square. I added my own foam rubber filter on top of this - which was cut to an 8" diameter, using an Exacto knife and an 8" inch dinner plate as a template. This foam rubber measures about 1/8 inch thick, and you can buy it at any hardware store. I anticipate cleaning the foam rubber filter once a year when I service the furnace. The installation of these covers looks nice, and very professional. Prior to finding these covers, I was manually cutting filters, and, with some difficulty, taping them onto the air intake ducts. And I can say, that chore was not fun at all. These covers completely eliminate that chore - as they come off easily for service, and the foam rubber filter can be washed out, and reused. Problem solved.

Good SS vent for the money, as described.

Solid construction for the money. However be very careful handling ,the vent edges are very sharp cut me like a razor.

Appears to be a good product and it should work well.
