Nice phone holder but with some flaws
This phone holder has some nice features, like being able to easily open up to about 4". It uses some ratcheting system, unlike other phone holders that are spring loaded. It has a forward/backward pivot you can adjust. The vertical and horizontal orientation of the phone can be adjusted by twisting the holder. It has a cold shoe mount and a tripod mount. Here are some of the negatives I found. The plastic material does feel a bit cheap, and feels like a drop will cause some damage. The lips that hold the cell phone are not wide enough for my Samsung Galaxy S10 with a phone case. This would not be an issue if I removed my phone from the case, but that would be a big inconvenience. If you have a thin phone don't use any phone case, this won't be an issue for you. So if you don't mind the cheap plastic feel of this phone holder, overall it's not a bad product for it's price and for it's intended function.

Better than others
Sturdier than the others he has ordered. More heavy duty.

Feels cheap and flimsy
I usually look at reviews, but I got in a hurry and bought right away. Now I'm replacing this and I've had it for about 3 hours.I think it will hold my phone fine, but it doesn't give me confidence it will be sturdy. It's all plastic, including the screw that lock the angle tilt into place. The lips that hold that phone are very shallow. It uses a ratchet system to lock the phone in (you squeeze the top/ bottom until it clicks tight onto the phone). This is probably acceptable, but because of the shallow lips, you definitely need to make sure it's as tight as possible. The screw that tightens the angle is really bad. It's very small and not in the best spot to adjust. I have to crank it down hard to lock the holder. Then, it's really hard to unlock it to move if you need to do fine adjustments. It also feels like you could snap the screw. The cold shoe locks in fine, but it's plastic too and yet another aspect that concerns me long term.Overall, it will work, but it's annoying, weak, and gives me no confidence that it won't end up smashed into pieces the first time it's bumped.

Survived a Soccer Season
I use this attached to my Canon 5D Mark ii, I used it for an entire high school soccer season, to take video while taking sideline pictures. I am up and down the sidelines and my phone stayed securely in place the entire time. There is a little button on the side that one time almost got stuck so it wasn’t locking in place properly, but I could quickly fix it and it has worked great. It is a bit hard to adjust the angle - and with a 70-200 big white lens, if my phone camera was in wide angle I could see the end of my lens, but this wouldn’t be an issue at all with a shorter lens. But it worked great and I was able to get video and pictures at the same time.

It didn't hold my phone good enough, phone fell and cracked on the backside
I would not recommend getting this. It does not hold your phone very tightly, and it does not support having a case on, you have to take your case off to get your phone in it.I was using this to record footage of different scenes I was on while using my actual camera to take photos (I'm a fire photographer). While I was recording a scene, my phone fell out of the holder, and it cracked the entire backside of my phone. Now I have to figure out where I can get that fixed, and likely spend a lot of money to get it fixed. If you're looking for coldshoe phone holder, I would recommend finding a different one as this one did not hold up to my expectations and it likely won't hold up to yours. Huge waste of money and now I'm going to have to likely pay at least 100 bucks to get my phone fixed.I think the only thing nice about the holder is that it can move around to almost any angle you want, but if you have it so your phone is vertical, you do run the risk of your phone falling out (this isn't what happened when my phone cracked).
