Seagate BarraCuda 2 TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 256 MB Cache 3.5 Inch – Frustration Free Packaging (ST2000DM008)

It obviously won't be as quick as a SSD but the cost vs storage capacity made this worthwhile for me. I bought this exactly two years ago today and its been working great ever since, even when moved about from PC case to case. Simple plug and play with Sata data and power, computer should then recognise it. I've got this set up as a secondary storage drive in my PC and not used this as a boot drive for Windows but my brother has in his pc and it is noticeably slower starting up and general usage. I wouldn't recommend it for a boot drive but like I said cost-capacity might put this into the PC for most people.

This is my fourth Seagate BarraCuda 2 TB Internal Hard Drive and I am very happy with them. The 2 Terrabyte size fits my requirements perfectly.

The drive is great, thoiugh it's only a 2.5" and I use 3.5" drive trays, it still goes in with no problems. I downloaded the SeaTools software for checking the serial number to register it as I didn't want to take the drive out (I was in the middle of setting it up, and I couldn't eject it without turning off the PC and I was backing up 850 GB, and I would have to turn off the PC to remove it). The SeaTools broke my PC. Blue screened it, and messed around with my BIOS so I had to reset it. Not a happy bunny !! Don't be put off though, the drive is great - really fast and easy to set up - and I have 3 other Seagate Barracudas that have been working fine for over 5 years.

I have no idea what frustration free packaging is. But it was shipped with no protection around it. Fortunately it arrived safely and in working order. The drive wasn't pre-formatted so it didn't show up in "This PC" to begin with. After it was all set up and checked for errors it was absolutely fine and was able to restore my backup of my failed drive. I can now access all my games again. It performs well and is reasonably quiet for a mechanical drive. A word of advice..If your going to ship it without the box at least put some bubble wrap around it next time, or there's going to be a lot of broken drives being returned.

It's been a long time since I built a PC from scratch, so the physical size of this drive was surprising. It's about half as thick as the old drives I was working from. I'd previously been using one terabyte drives, so having double the storage is great. It was easy to install, and the BIOS and Windows had no problem recognizing it. So far (after a week) the performance is solid, with no problems. I can hear it from time to time, but it isn't obtrusive, and it's certainly a lot quieter than my old drives.

Installation nickel, pour l'instant, il fonctionne très bien, fait peu de bruit et il a une très bonne capacité de stockage ... rien à dire sur le produit en lui-même. Par contre, je voudrais soulever le fait que le HDD, sous blister anti statique scellé comme il se doit, a été reçu dans un simple carton, type grande enveloppe assez fine en plus, sans aucune protection genre papier bulle ni rien, ce qui, pour un non-SSD (càd avec des parties mécaniques, tête de lecture, etc ...), est vraiment super moyen, compte tenu de la délicatesse de certains employés des sociétés de transport. Là ça fonctionne mais pour le principe, merci de faire un petit effort sur le packaging de transport svp !
