The DV Access Point Dongle connects to your PC or Intel based Mac via a USB port and provides a 2 meter Access Point for use with a D-STAR radio. Using an Internet connection, a user may connect to and communicate with D-STAR gateways and reflectors around the world. The DVAPTool application used with the DV Access Point Dongle may be installed and run on Microsoft Windows 10/7/XP/Vista, Mac OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard, or many flavors of Linux.

Works.
It worked with my TH-D74A the first time I tried, so I'm happy. Still, there are similar devices available that do more that you might want to look in to. As always, documentation was minimal, but (in this case) sufficient. Yea, I knocked off one star for this review because there are so many useful things to know that were not in the documentation.

This is an excellent easy to use device
This is an excellent easy to use device. I wish it cost less but nothing in ham radio is really cheap. You do get what you pay for. The shipping was quick and I have no complaints.

DVAP is AWESOME!!!!
This is a great device!!!I've been in the ham radio hobby for 5 years now, 4 of them I've spent using D-STAR.I recently purchased an icom 51A portable radio, but I don't have very good repeater coverage where I live and work. So, a good friend of mine recommended the purchase of a DVAP.I really have to say, it's made my whole experience with D-STAR so much funner, and easier to use!! I absolutely love my DVAP, and would recommend it to any licensed ham out there!!The DVAP is easy to use, and easy to understand,.. It's very quick set up on any current computer. Just follow all the directions on the DVAP website, and you'll be up in going in no time at all! Just like I did!!!

I Love D-STAR
I use my USB D-STAR Gateway (a.k.a. DVAP) with a Raspberry Pi computer to link into the D-STAR network. Yesterday I was using mine with an Icom ID-51A Plus radio to listen to a guy in England (a DJ on his way home from a gig using a mobile D-STAR radio) talk to an individual in Japan (who was at a ski resort using an ID-51A). I've used it to talk to people around the world as well. D-STAR is really amazing. It does require an amateur radio license of course. The license has to be registered with the D-STAR system before it can be used. The D-STAR system is complicated (repeaters and reflectors linked together with the internet) but once things have been set up, it is relatively easy. There are no repeaters close enough for me to use when I'm at home so which is why I have the DVAP.It does require a computer which is why I have the Raspberry Pi. The DVAP connects to the computer's USB port and the computer has to be connected to the internet. It will also work with a Windows PC or a Mac. I use the Raspberry Pi because it is inexpensive and can be dedicated to being a D-STAR interface. There is plenty of help on the internet for those interested in using one.
