I ordered this so that I can hook a standard garden hose up to my Koi pond filter. The pond filter only came with plastic adapters that connect via barb to pond hoses. It’s this uncommon 1” hose thread, which this adapter is made for. This adapter gives me a solid metal connection that should last and allow me to easily add more hose if I want to use the discarded pond water to fertilize my garden.Also, I will add that this is a 1” female HOSE thread (NPSH- National Pipe Straight Hose) x standard garden hose male. NPSH is not the same as your normal 1” pipe thread (which is NPT, a finer, tapered thread). People who buy the wrong thing shouldn’t give one star ratings to the product : )
