The Rise of the Alt-Right Hardcover – July 31, 2018

Main takes the Alt-Right very seriously and develops a careful analysis of their beliefs, and why they should be rejected. At times he does not give the Alt-Right the benefit of the doubt and conversely does give that benefit to those whom he puts in opposition to the Alt-Right (e.g., the Founding Fathers, Lincoln) but overall Main's treatment of the topic is scrupulous and informative, and he even works in some humor. A worthwhile and timely read.

The Rise of the Alt-Right is academic in nature but gripping and easy to read as someone with only a passing interest in politics. The book thoroughly examines and convincingly rebuts their common refrains, thus revealing the intellectual bankruptcy of the movement.
