Great everyday carry
Great knife for a good value. The knife has a great appearance. Who doesn’t like black on black. The knife fits well in your hand, feels good, and has a little weight to it. I like the blade assist which makes it easier to open like a bada**. Great everyday carry knife

Attractive, Great Knife and It's Made to be in Your Hand
Very well designed and made knife. I can't believe how comfortable it feels in my hand. However, I did have one difficulty with the knife. All my previous Kershaws have had flippers, so I was not familiar with the thumbstud. The knife I received was unable to be opened with one hand. The answers to my question about the difficulty in opening the blade, all stated it should be very easy to open.I extensively searched the Internet and found one person, who had the same problem with a blur. He ended up taking the knife apart and putting it back together, still having the same problem. He eventually found that by releasing tension on the screws, the blade opened easy. I used a T8 and gently released a little tension on the main screw and the blade now opens fine with one hand. Apparently, it was over-torqued at the factory. I will watch to see if the screw loosens on it's own, but so far it seems to be holding well, so I am very happy with the knife.

Perfect Everyday Carry Knife!
Hi guys,I've just received the Kershaw Blur and it's honestly the best EDC I've ever had. Everything about it is exactly what I want in an EDC (everyday carry), plus that Speed Safe opening, designed by Ken Onion is amazingly quick and easy to open. The size and weight are perfect, slim enough not to leave a bulge in your pocket. Grip design has excellent ergonomics, easy to grip with textured sides. Blade is matte finished and sharp and is just the right length for most tasks. Liner lock does it's job (more on this later). Again, speed safe is a god-send for EDC's. It works almost as quick as a switchblade, in fact, I'm sure this will be mistaken for one due to the speed and sound it makes when you open it. Clip is also designed well and lets the knife sit with about 1/2inch of the knife exposed in your pocket (clip can also be transferred to the bottom of the knife). Knife's build is very solid, fit and finish are excellent. You really cannot go wrong with this knife.Regarding the Liner Lock:Now, prior to buying this, I did some research and stumbled on a video showing how the user whacks the knife at the back of the blade and it closes. I'm sure this scared off a lot of potential customers needlessly. I have two comments on the video, one is that folding knives of ANY kind are not meant to be slammed anywhere at the back of the blade, for that kind of stuff, get a fixed-blade where you have the metal extending all the way to the end of the grip. Second, the knife in the video may already be defective, although unlikely, it's still possible that a defective product goes out from the factory. However, to test this or any knife's lock, all you have to do is open it and hold the knife at the sides of the grip (making sure your fingers won't get closed on), then with your other hand hold the sides of the blade, next, try to close the knife, if it closes or if there's play, it's defective. Don't slam the back of the blade like in the video, this can and will damage the knife! Again, folding knives were never meant to be used this way, doing this type of thing will damage it.Rough use, even if used properly, can also damage the locking mechanism over time. Heck, even pocket lint can affect a knife's lock! So, it's best to do periodic checks on your folding knife's locking mechanisms in a way similar to what I mentioned earlier. Like I said, any kind of lock on a folding knife should not be considered as a perfect safety fix, rather, that it's simply a better alternative to no lock at all. However, frame locks are indeed a tad more secure than liner locks. But, in no way can a frame lock be better than a fixed blade when it comes to being secure. To sum up:Fit and Finish: ExcellentSize and Weight: ExcellentEase of Opening: ExcellentErgonomics: ExcellentLock: Works as it should.Price: +-$50 cheap for what you're getting.

Nice opening, nice blade, prefer a different grip
This is a nice high quality knife overall. I like most of the aspects of it's design. First the opening mechanism. It flips open fast, very nice assisted opening. Check local laws but most places allow for the legal possession of "assisted open" folding knives such as this one. This means that unlike a switchblade where one pushes a button to open a blade, instead one pushes on the thumb stud as one would do a non-assisted open knife but once it is opened up a bit there is a torsion bar which takes over and quickly opens the knife the rest of the way. This makes opening the knife appear to be much the same as a switch blade and this is one of the fasted assisted open knives I have tried. So great point for the opening mechanism. NOTE: not all Kershaw Speed Safe knives have the same opening speed, this one is quite fast and needs to be reviewed as an individual knife, do not count on two assisted open knives, even by the same company working the same or at the same speed etc.. The Blur is a fast one.I like the blade, it is sharp, has a tanto point for added strength and has the serrations which of course aid in cutting of certain materials. On the other hand these are a bit more difficult to sharpen than a straight blade so it is a trade off but one I am willing to accept. Also Kershaw has a policy of lifetime sharpening if one sends in their knife to them, I have not looked in to any shipping charges or turn around time but is an option for those interested. Blade quite sharp out of the box. I have not owned the knife long but it is not showing any play from the blade to handle which is great, I hope it stays that way. The material used in the grip is fine however for me it is not large enough or has enough places for ones fingers and hand to really get a good grip on this knife. Neither is there a guard between hand and blade. Perhaps a larger model would suit me better.I have two CRKT Triumph knives which I think have vastly better grips for example, the knives are also a bit bigger. Perhaps Kershaw has another model that would be a bit bigger that I would like even more.Be aware that there are various models of the Blur. One I think would be nice to have is the model with a dual metal blade with ZDP, I don't know how much that would cost if available (they were a special edition) but would be nice. Aside from that of course there are other editions of the Blur besides this one which you may like better. So to sum it up, very happy with overall quality, VERY happy with assisted opening mechanism, happy with blade, wish grip were a bit bigger or differently designed. If you like the Blur then just make sure you select the model you will be most happy with as there are several.
