gimmick?
interesting concept, i am just unsure of the proper application, particularly in light of the rather considerable price.. it's certainly non-marring, but a bit too light for woodworking, for example. i am sure others will have niche use for it. oh well, at least it looks cool on my hammer rack....

BEST SOFT HAMMERS
Bought two hammers, the small and mid sized. They are the best SOFT hammers I have ever used. They were advertised in some woodworking magizines, but I had a difficult time finding out where to purchase them. Finally located them in AMAZON. They are VERY SOFT and not too light. When assembling wood projects they are the best there is! Have used wooden and other soft nose hammers and they have left dents even with light blows....THESE DO NOT!! I could strike soft wood with a very heavy blow and it might break the board but will not leave a DENT! These hammers are intended for finish work not heavy construction or masonry. They will work very well for sheet metal and auto wheel covers/ hub caps.

Terrific dead blow mallet for cabinet carpentry
This is a great deadblow mallet. I bought it for use in assembling cabinets for a face-frame cabinet project. The size of the head and density of it makes for solid assured persuasion of the subject parts, with virtually no bounce. I particularly like it as an alternative to a rubber mallet, which is a little hard for the finished wood parts, and as an alternative to denser car-style deadblow hammers, which still present a risk of denting since the heads are smaller than this one. If you have seen Sorbothane shoe inserts, then you know the feel of this kind of material. It is dense and a little softer than rubber, but with terrific damping.I imagine this would be useful in the glass shop as well. I know someone who works with stained glass that can give some feedback for that application.

Like a giant blue marshmellow
I thought about giving this tool 4 stars because it is so soft, but that would be wrong because it is awesome at protecting your product. Be advised it is REALLY soft, almost gushy and I can really wind up and wail on the furniture pieces I make and install without ever a hint of damage. Of the three choices, I purchased the heaviest mallet which for me was perfect. If anything, it may be too light and I have to resort to another of my dead blow mallets to persuade more difficult pieces in place. All in all, an excellent tool in my arsenal and a must-have for fine furniture assembly.

Perfect soft mallet
I was familiar with Sorbothane from other products. Be aware, this is a soft mallet. It borders on squishy but is perfect when you have delicate surfaces that need persuasion. I have several wood mallets and a plastic dead blow that I use frequently but this was a much needed addition to the other tools. The head is large so you will not easily fit this into tight spots. Having said that, it is nice since it covers a larger area when striking furniture or other parts you are fitting. This would not be my first or only mallet for assembly, but once you have a more solid one, this is a great addition.

Amazing Mallet
I use this Sorbothane mallet for so more things than I ever thought. I initially got the mallet to assist with installing some kitchen cabinetry. Fast forward the mallet has now become a staple in my tool box for example the other day I was hanging a mirror using sort of a channel bracket and needed to "tap" the mirror into place, well any other hammer would have nicked up the frame or worse broke the mirror, not this mallet worked like a charm (although you could still probably break the mirror with it). Basically this un-expecting mallet has proven to be a very useful little tool

Great for Furniture Assembly
If your a woodworker an looking for something to urge dovetails together and other assembly tasks this is perfect. Much better than a traditional "hard" dead blow mallet. There is a bit more bounce than a traditional dead blow , but it truly does prevent ANY wood damage, even if you wail away much harder than you really should be doing. You can even hit irregular surfaces. It conforms to the surface on impact and does not seem to cause any harm. Pretty amazing.

This is an awesome tile mallet. Thank you!*Update, after a year of use installing tile full time, this is still the perfect tile mallet. Every setter that sees it asks about it. I ordered one for a friend, and I'm about to order another for my brother whos a Glazier. Thanks again for this outstanding product.

Excellent soft hammer.
Great little hammer. I use it often for reassembling automotive interior trim panels in the shop. Never leaves a mark on any of them, and saves the abuse of using my hands to beat the panels into place. Would highly recommend for anybody who does a lot of automotive interior work.

No marks but all the force.
Works as advertised. Used for putting together joints for woodworking. The Picture is a little deceiving though making the mallets looks much bigger then they are. The head of the small mallet head is roughly 2.75"long by 1.5" width and 1.5" high
