However is all too easy to crush items or break them up leaving crumbs that fall into the toaster.But I have a hard time thinking of any tongs that wouldn't have such an issue.

I got these to use as chopsticks and, for me, they work very, VERY well as chopsticks. These wooden tongs are much easier to use than traditional chopsticks because they're flat, they have a wider tip with ridges that help with gripping food, and it's attached at the top. And yes, the tips touch when closed.

A recently purchased raclette grill didn't come with tools. What a great opportunity to pick the ones I wanted. These tongs work beautifully and I'm looking forward to using them at a larger party.Pro tip: For longer life, oil well with coconut oil and a hair dryer whenever needed. They're already smooth and your hands should bring out a lovely patina with usage.

Not what I was hoping for, really only able to open the tongs wide enough for a piece of bread and some of them were not even very usable for that. Since they are advertised as toast tongs can't say they are not what was promised. Just don't expect more than picking up a piece of toast. Which may be useful for some.

Great tool for a Raclette Grill. Bought specifically for that.
