LOVE THIS MODEM!!!
I ordered a Motorola Surfboard modem from Amazon because I previously had a Motorola Surfboard modem that was about 3 or 4 years old, and I was having problems getting onto the internet, having the internet drop once I did get on, and I could not get my email to my iPhone and other little problems. When it came, my cable company couldn't even get a signal to it. So I sent it back and ordered this awesome Netgear modem. I can't even tell you how much difference it has made for my computer speed, internet drops, etc. I got the modem, took it out of the box, plugged it in, called the cable company and was up and running in less than 5 minutes!! I am now getting a download speed that is much faster and I haven't had a dropped internet connection yet, and my iPhone email started working again. I am using this modem with a Netgear Router and it is just a great set-up. Very happy with everything.

Neutral at best...not sure if a lemon or what...
Rated this 3 stars (considered only 2) because... 1) It works with Comcast as I purchased it to get rid of their rental fee. 2) It worked well when it was working (no drops, constant high speed) 3)....it died in a month. I still don't know if I had a lemon or...if Comcast did something. The timing of the death of this device is still suspect. Quick summary: - Ordered it in mid December. Had issues with the self activation process. Called support line and tech activated easily when I supplied the info. - Worked fine throughout December into January. Never had to reset it ever. - Realized Comcast tacked on some false charges to my Dec bill. - After two days of getting Comcast to remove the false charges...modem completely dies. So the 3 stars is more of a 'neutral' stance as...it worked well, but died quickly for whatever reason. Sent it back for a refund. Just be careful I guess?

Modem Drops connection with Time Warner, also the Reset button does not clear passwords, Engineering issue from Netgear
Purchased modem and installed November of 2013 using Time Warner Cable, this modem kept dropping the signals could not keep connection. Also NETGEAR told me to password protect modem, password got messed up, hit the reset button on the back per Netgear and Modem would not reset to the default. NETGEAR informed me that their is a problem with this modem and it may extend to anyone who purchased this modem where the reset button, is not truly clearing all the settings. The MOTOROLA SB6141 non wireless modem works better and stays connected also support the Super High Speeds of Timer Warner Cable where the CMD31T does not and this is on the Time Warner Website when looking for Modems that work on their system, they have a webpage. The CMD31T keeps dropping all signals which I confirmed with Time Warner, and it kept dropping out of there system even though this is TWC approved. The most annoying part is that there were no cable outages and my signals were excellent from Time Warner but this Modem, if you unplugged it, or used a router with it, would drop the signals in a second. Constant Dropping of signals, yet Netgear had no clue other than to return the product. I even wonder if the NETGEAR Engineers fully tested this modem with all the problems, and read the reviews on other re sellers websites not very good. It did not work for me. I am reporting facts and statistics, and I have read the reviews, where one of the top executives admitted they had a problem with this modem and they were trying to work it out. Look I cannot tell someone what to purchase or buy, but I can say for me this modem had be reloaded into the Time Warner system about 6 times, it kept dropping, so I went and got a Motorola and it works fine, these are both good companies but NETGEAR Modems are trouble. Yes this was a Time Warner approved modem. Update Purchased a Motorola SB6141 Modem only, this modem does not support wireless, you need a router for Wireless. This Modem worked faster and much faster then the NETGEAR CMD31T. I ran Latency testing speed testing direct connected and the Motorola ran 5mbs faster than the NETGEAR and the Latency test showed 10ms faster on the Motorola. NETGEAR has some issues with this Modem, these are the Facts, sorry NETGEAR after 3 hours of customer support and at the end saying there was nothing that could be done except to return the product, took NETGEARS advice return the Product and on my own research purchased the Motorola SB6141.

It works
Its a modem and it works. TW Cable seemed to have issues getting it to work when I called them. Even though this is listed on their website as tested and a preferred item. They are the only cable company in town however and I have tried the alternate internet providers or know folks who have. They know they are the only real game in town. The modem seems to do everything I want it to do. It is, so far, more reliable than the Surfboard that TWC gave us. It was shipped quickly and I installed it easily enough. I am getting a pretty even download of 14.3 to 15mb from it. Compared to the wildly fluctuating 200kb to 27mb from the old TWC modem. A much higher upload of 800kb to 1.1mb compared to the old modem that ran anywhere from 200kb to 650kb or so. At least I don't have to reboot the whole system once a week any longer.

Netgear Modem Works Great
I bought this DOCSIS 3 cable modem to replace the leased modem offered by Comcast. They charge $7 a month to lease their modem, so this new modem should pay for itself after one year. It has very simple instructions: 1. Install the modem in place of your current modem 2. Wait for all the lights to come on, which can take up to 15 minutes (mine took about 5 minutes) 3. Call your cable provider with the MAC Address (it is printed on the modem, instruction sheet, and the box) so they can register your new modem 4. Verify you have internet access My real concern is how long it would take to get a Comcast person on the telephone to perform the modem registration, but I had a guy on the phone in less than 5 minutes and he knew exactly what was required to register the modem. It took about 10 minutes before internet access was restored, for a total of maybe 15-20 minutes without internet access from the time I disconnected the old modem until the new modem was working. The Netgear modem has easy to understand lights that let me know what is going on with my connection, and it is also somewhat smaller than the unit from Comcast. I picked this unit because of the price and it was on the Comcast compatibility list, and I'm happy with the choice.

High Speed Cable Modem
I couldn't be happier. This modem was easy to install and synced up well with the wireless router that I have and the wireless network extender that I have for my cell telephone signal. If you are a Verizon cellular telephone subscriber with poor signal strength in your home, I would suggest installing a Samsung wireless network extender along with the Netgear High Speed cable modem and Netgear wireless router. I was having signal issues with our cellular telephones, our wireless computer, and streaming to our smart TVs. All of those issues were resolved when I switched out my older equipment in favor of the Netgear High Speed Cable Modem, Netgear Wireless Router, and the Samsung Wireless Network Extender. Good luck.

Fantastic Device
After reading all the reviews, I was at first very skeptical of buying this device. I also looked at all the other recommended devices, and each have their fair share of good and bad. I took the plunge and bought this netgear and could not be happier. Between this netgear cable modem and my linksys 6500 router, everything is working great. The netgear as described by the manual was a seamless setup. I plugged the cable modem in and my laptop into it, powered on the cable modem, waited the 10-15 min for the initial boot. After the ready light was good, I called TW level 3 support and within 2 minutes, everything was up and running. I would completely recommend this device. One thing i did note, I tried a few devices from the SP which combine the cable modem and router into one. This does not work. Go with the separation of a a solid cable modem attached to a router in which each device is doing its respective job
