This solid wood roll top desk is loaded with amazing features. Located behind one rectangular door (center front, bottom of row) there is an electric power outlet that accommodates two grounded plugs and two USB plugs! Not only do I have the convenience of charging my phone while working at the desk, I can also close the roll top without crushing stray electric cords (think pencil sharpener, computer) when the top comes down. Notice that this 54” wide roll top desk is larger than many other 54” roll tops. This desk is 28.5” deep, not 24” so there is enough surface area to work on. And it is 49” tall, not 44.5”. This is a good size, sturdy desk. Unlike some roll top desks sold as “solid wood”, this desk is truly ALL REAL WOOD. There is no cardboard, no MDF to surprise you. I bought the Antique Burnished Oak stain- sort of a light honey-brown color. [It is a bit darker than the Harvest Oak (a standard, light golden colored oak).] I think the Burnished Oak is actually prettier here than it is in the photos. Very, very easy to assemble: the roll top itself comes already assembled in one piece. Basically, you have the two pedestals, the top, and the back panel to put together. (Both sides of the back panel are nicely finished.) There are three locks for this desk if you want to secure it. The roll top itself has a lock; and both the bottom drawers have locks. The roll top tambour is well constructed and slides easily. Note that both bottom drawers are designed to be file drawers and have frame inserts for hanging folders. The center drawer has green felt with a nice pencil tray/organizer (lots of sections) at the front. The two outer top drawers have a wooden slat system (three slats, 5 sets of grooves each drawer) designed to section off the drawer into compartments. The slats easily lift out if you don’t want to use them; or you can position them in any of the grooves to create whatever size partitions you want. And there are two pull outs over the outer top drawers. I purchased from Country Marketplace through Amazon. Customer service was readily available for any question I had. The desk arrived safe and delivery was when expected. I enjoyed doing business with them. .

This roll top desk is a solid piece of furniture. high quality in every aspect. Although I ordered the desk on Amazon, it is actually shipped by the seller. After I placed the order I received a call from the seller (Jane) to let me know what to expect . Namely that the shipping company is a freight company and not a furniture delivery. The desk weighs 200 pounds and is unloaded on a pallet. This allowed me to make proper arrangements to receive it from the shipping company (my dinky dolly would not be adequate). Although the desk comes in 2 pieces, it is shrink wrapped as one piece. All the pieces and hardware were present. You have to assemble the bottom portion and then place the top on that bottom and bolt it down. Being old, it took me a little longer than another reviewer (just under 2 hours). I highly recommend this roll top desk.

The desk is absolutely magnificent: not a single bit of particle board, solid construction, and finished to perfection. The 25 drawers are more than enough to organize even the messiest of work spaces. The considerate details included in the design are flawless. Each label tab on the pigeonholes is functional, every drawer is lined with green felt, even the locks on the roll-top and the file drawers are sturdy. It is an expensive item, but worth every penny. This is heirloom-quality, fine furniture, and built to last for generations. More importantly, Country Marketplace offers some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered the desk and needed it on a deadline, but when I saw the estimated arrival date, I was crestfallen. It was several weeks after I needed the desk. I messaged the seller and asked to cancel my order. Jane responded promptly and offered to check with the shipping company and see if the date could not be moved up. I accepted her offer, and a day or two later, she followed up with me to let me know that she had been successful and that the desk would arrive a full month before the estimated delivery date! The week before the desk was to arrive, she called me to brief me on the arrival. In addition to being about as charming and congenial as a person can be over the phone, she was very clear and thorough in her description, and all of the information she relayed to me during the five minute conversation she included in an email. I cannot express how utterly satisfied I was with my experience purchasing this desk and as I read the other reviews, I am not alone in this sentiment. The desk arrives in two separate boxes, one containing the top and the other containing the two side columns, the center back, and the center drawer. The assembly is very easy, and the entire thing--from unpacking, to bolting it together, to cleaning up the packaging--took me less than an hour. The only thing for which I needed a second person was putting the top on. The one tool you need is a standard #2 Phillips-head screwdriver. Again, this is an excellent desk and you will not regret your purchase. Thank you so much!
