I’m 56 and my gray hair is semi-coarse, medium-fine hair; I have short hair. I have tried both of the 3-packs of the "Grownass Man" & the J·R·Liggett's shampoo bars and the J·R·Liggett's Herbal one. This review will be posted on both of the Grownass Man & the J·R·Liggett's review areas since none of them were duds. J·R·Liggett's has more oils that are great for conditioning in each soap bar. Grownass Man does not but it seems they thought-out well and tested their soaps well and came out with outstanding shampoo soaps. I was looking for a shampoo bar with conditioning power, cleaning power, and nicely scented. Granted that J·R·Liggett's has good oils with excellent conditioning power like Hemp Oil that is in the 90s and Grownass Man has Avocado Oil that is in the 70s. I have learned that the higher the conditioning power the more water you need to rinse out your hair to avoid a waxy build-up and get off all the soap in your hair. Grownass man has very nice scents in all their bars where the scents stay and linger in the bathroom (it’s a very nice, pleasant scent) and J·R·Liggett's has mild-to-no scents for those with allergies. J·R·Liggett's is $26.99 for one 3-pack of three different shampoo bars of Tea Tree & Hemp Oil, Jojoba & Peppermint, and Coconut & Argan. I have also tried a separate one of Green Herbal one and it had a nice smell and a very good shampoo bar. Grownass Man is $39.99 for six bars (2 sets of three different bars) of Chill Out, Last Call, and Mint Condition. They have an Orange Shampoo Bar that I have not tried, but by reading what it has, I was not interested in that one. J·R·Liggett's bars are 3.5 oz and look like a small cube (they are small in size). Grownass Man bars are 4 oz and they look and feel like a chunky traditional bar of soap. Both of them last long but, Grownass Man lasts longer. My wife tried the J·R·Liggett's bars because they have more than three oils per bar, but she didn’t like the labor it took to wash her long hair every day and some of her hair was not washed even like a liquid shampoo would. I agree with her that they are perfect for people with short hair and would have liked some bars with more feminine scents. ---------------- Updated: I forgot to mention the following: - I stopped using, after three days, the J·R·Liggett's Argon Oil bar because it had a good amount of wax build up and gave me a flaky scalp. - The Herbal one smelled and felt more natural. - The Grownass Man's "Last Call" shampoo bar has this nice and strong manly-scent that I enjoyed the most. The entire bathroom smelled nice. It's Jojoba oil is great but it's conditioning power is a 12. And it gave me a slight waxy build up. - I used a lot more water with the ones that gave me a waxy build up to try to minimize the build up. ------------------ Of all of these 7 Shampoo Bars that I used, I have found that for me only, one from each Company work for me. - Grownass Man has “Chill Out that is an excellent Shampoo soap bar. Chill out has Avocado Oil (70) and Tea Tree Oil. - J·R·Liggett's has an excellent one with Tea Tree and Hemp Oil (90) as well Of these two, I like the “Chill Out” bar from Grownass Man because it has a very nice scent after I shower and even if when you leave it out to dry, it has a very scent throughout the bathroom; impressive. And because it is a 4 oz bar (not 3.5 oz) and it’s cheaper. If you don’t want to try all of these and don’t want to spend a lot of money, like I did, get “Chill Out” from Grownass Man. I am very sure that you will be happy with it. ————————- Updated: 21 August 2023 After trying and using up all these 7 soaps, I decided to go back to Grownass Man Shampoo Soaps. In general, both have essential oils for your shampoo needs since everyone has different hair maintenance needs. Grownass Man beats JR Liggetts in price, quantity, and if you’rea guy, that manly smell of Grownass Man’s soaps beats JR Liggetts: by far. ——————————- *Note: that in order to see the results of each soap, you have to try them out for at least 7-10 days. For me, some gave me waxy-build-up hair and some left me with dry hair. I like the 3-packs with different types to see with one worked for me. I got this bar shampoo for my husband for his birthday, and when my sons saw it they cracked up laughing. Now they want one. My husband said that his smells good and lathers up well. These soaps come in very large bars that last longer than most other shampoo bars. Most men I know like an all-in-one body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, so this bar is especially good for the simple type of person or the minimalist. These soaps do smell nice and have a strong scent, so the smell doesn't fade away quickly. They were a good buy at a great low price too. These bars are quality-made.

I originally bought this product for myself-a grown ass woman-as I had been using a shampoo bar for a while and liked the idea of an all in one product for both hair and body. I also convinced my husband to try it and he loves it. It cleanses my hair well without drying or stripping all the oil from it. I have fine textured hair and dont use conditioner but if you have long thick hair you might need a detangler or conditioner. My husband is now using this instead of his regular shampoo, beard wash, and body soap and is happy enough with it that he had me reorder it. He is a pretty hairy guy and 3 bars lasted only a month. I would continue to use it but the scents are very strong and I am very sensitive to scents. They are very nice scents but just too strong for my personal use. The mint condition is the mildest of the scents and the chill out is quite strong and the last call being not as strong but still more scented than the mint condition. The mint condition smells just as the name suggests-like mint. But it is not overpowering and the scent does not linger once rinsed out. The last call smells like cinnamon and patchouli and does linger after rinsing. The chill out is the strongest and smells strongly like patchouli to me. I had to rinse my hair after washing and drying it because the scent was just too strong for me. This may not be an issue for everyone. It will definitely fragrance your entire bathroom for sure. Overall this is a great shampoo bar, I just wish they had some more neutral scents or fragrance free option.

I loved this bar from the first use, but after using it daily for a week or so, I was addicted. My hair and scalp are the healthiest they have ever been. It makes you feel really clean, while also smelling amazing. It lathers up really well and works as a good body bar too. I have used it for several months now and I can honestly say I will not be using anything but this product on my hair from now on. I just wanted to share some of the best things about it. -Never builds up in my hair at all, so I can keep on using it and not worry. -The bar itself lasted several months with daily use on shorter hair. (This is with liberal use, as I tend to wash my hair twice. What? It smells GOOD ok? Stop judging, your nose will eventually undestand, I promise.) -Smells amazing and stays smelling good all day, not just in the shower/bath, but don't worry, it is not over powering. No perfume counters here. I would highly recommend this to all my fellow gals out there by the way. Not all of us want to smell like a perfume counter am I right?! -Natural & Organic oils. I know exactly what each ingredient is and do not have to worry about some chemical I cannot pronounce. No gross environmental footprints here, just nice clean wet ones from the shower/bath. -Eco friendly packaging. No plastic here. All it comes in is a cute snarky little cardboard box just big enough for a bar. -Super easy to travel with. No mess and it lasts long so no worry about running out. So yeah 10/10 will not only use again, but recommend to all. Yes gals, I am talking to you again, step away from the perfume counter!

Excellent lather and a great scent. I’ve have sensitive skin to some soaps and shampoos and I have been using for over a month with no reaction.

My husband absolutely loves the Grown Ass Man shampoo bar! He’s all about simplicity, and the all-in-one aspect makes his shower routine quick and easy. It lathers nicely, smells amazing, and leaves his hair and beard feeling clean and soft. It’s a great product that delivers exactly what it promises—we’ll definitely be buying it again!

I was turned on to this product by a friend mainly for the 3 in 1 capability (head, body and beard/face wash) and that it is made with all-natural ingredients. I used it at home for a couple of weeks and was impressed with how it made my skin and hair feel. - It did not feel like I had a thin film of chemicals on my skin which was my biggest issue with other all in one products. It makes my skin and hair feel smooth and healthy. - The scent is mild but really does have a noticeable uplifting and awakening effect on your mood when used in the morning. - Lathers surprisingly well and one bar lasts about 3-4 weeks as a daily shampoo and body wash. - I decided to take this bar on a trip to Europe as my primary shampoo/soap and it worked really well for my travels! I took it in a small zip lock bag in my toiletry case and it was super nice to have an all in one soap that I didn't have to worry about breaking open and making a mess. I simply left the bag open for a little while after use to let it dry and it was ready to go! I really enjoyed this product and I will be purchasing more in the future!

Liked having one less liquid to worry about for air travel. The product lathers up well. Like the scent, which was pleasant without being overpowering. Used it a couple of times without using conditioner afterward, which I usually do when using liquids, and felt like the end result was the same, so thumbs up for that. Took the bar on a 7-day vacation and only made a minimal dent in it. Not sure if you can cut the bar in half but might try that as a way to save some space when packing. Would definitely buy it again.
