I very rarely post reviews but feel like I must so my fellow ASD parents do not ...
I don't know who are the people loving this product! I very rarely post reviews but feel like I must so my fellow ASD parents do not waste their money and time! These scissors are dull and do not cut well at all, you have to hold small sections of hair up and then cut (per directions) it takes multiple snips as only the back of the scissors cut at all, my son isn't a squirmer and I couldn't stand trying for more than 2 minutes. the small section I managed to trim was uneven and choppy looking... I ended up taking out the regular clippers and doing haircuts the regular way. Do not waste your resources on these...go get a high quality clipper (or a friendly hair dresser/barber) and lot of your kids favorite reinforcers your time and money will be better spent!

Amazing!
This product is amazing. My son is severely autistic and hates his hair brushed or cut. To cut his hair my husband runs the clippers as fast as he can while I hold my son in place and keep him from running away...all amid screams and cries. I got these in the mail and gave my son a haircut today. I put a few pieces of candy in the table and sat him down. He said all done a few times and didn't want to do it but he didn't try to get up or cry. His haircut came out so good! It looks like a real salon did it!!!! Thank you for coming up with this. Oh and you can't cut them with the clipper piece on the scissors so if he squirms around I don't have to stop!

Even in the hands of a professional stylist, these just don’t work! 😕
I ordered a pair of thes for my young child who is seriously averse to having his haircut (sensory processing concerns, among other things). Even at a kids salon, with a stylist who works predominantly with special needs kids has a difficult time trying to cut his hair while he’s flailing and screaming. So, I figured that these had to be the solution... right? No. They barely cut anything at all, even when my child would let me trim his hair. They are a great idea, but don’t work nearly as well in practice as they do in concept. I even had a friend who has been a hair stylist forever try to cut my child’s hair with these and they just didn’t work - and she’s a professional!I know that most of the reviews are “amazing,” I just can’t understand that when they don’t work. You can try your luck like I did, or better yet save your money and keep looking.

but I did include one where he had fallen asleep mid climb so you can see what the back of his hair looked like. It nearly alway
My son is two, and he has autism with a side of sensory processing disorder. Hair cuts are hard for him, so I only cut what was getting in his eyes before the calming clipper, and even then it was a fight. I did once give it a try with electric clippers, but it was torture for him. The way he panicked and cried, it honestly felt abusive. I promised him "never again" and ordered these from Amazon. I didn't think to get an official "before photo", but I did include one where he had fallen asleep mid climb so you can see what the back of his hair looked like. It nearly always stuck straight out like that, no matter how much we combed it, and he really didn't like me to comb it. The hair cut itself was a long process. I used a misting water bottle to wet his hair, and a fine toothed comb to lift the hair as I cut. I made fast snips near his head, and once in a while took a bit of hair and cut. I gave him his first cup of jello to distract him. He still didn't enjoy the hair cut, but we got through it with one adult holding his chin and playing a video on a tablet while the other cut. We got through it. He didn't let me do much with the front, but it was our first try. I like the cut, people compliment us on it often.A couple of thoughts though. I wish just the scissors were available as a stand alone item for a better price, and that left and right handed came in a different color. My husband is right handed and I am left handed. I bought a right handed set because I thought he'd be the better cutter, but it turns out that I am. I wish I had a left handed pair too, but I can't see spending another $35 for the whole set. The other thing I noticed is that the attachments are numbered, but it does not say the length. I replaced my guards with leftover Wahl guards from the electric clippers my kids won't let me use for that reason, which kind of made me wish I could have bought just the scissors to start with. Still, though, I give it 5 stars and recommend it to everyone. Even people with neuro-typical kids say they would feel more confident cutting their hair with calming clippers.

Not a miracle, but they have worked for my son (when sleeping...) and improved my experience
When I got these scissors, I found them difficult to assemble, and I thought I had received the left-handed version. I wanted to try them for my 4-year-old son who has autism and has made every visit to the barber a living hell for him, my parter (and me), and the workers and other clients. I wasn't ready for an immediate review because he wouldn't let me get near him with the calm clippers, or any kind of scissors (or plant clippers when doing some garden chores, for that matter!).The Calming Clippers have worked very well for me WHEN he takes long naps. They have been a ray of sunshine during quarantine, IF, but only if, he is asleep. Nevertheless, no longer bald spots or messy hair, or those nightmarish visits to the barbershop. I have finally found a temporal solution to keep him with a "decent" haircut. Not a perfectionist, here. I still have to use another scissors for the top, and even get some additional help at home to pick up the mess while doing it.The scissors did not help with his anxiety towards the experience, but have definitively changed mine (with practice and patience). I have finally found the correct way to use them, and it all makes sense now. I wish he could outgrow his fear and anxiety, but in the meanwhile I have found a way to avoid those panic attacks when driving him to get his hair done which had gotten worse as he has grown older.Just an observation: the plastic combs are quite fragile, so they must be changed with caution to avoid breaking the edges.

100% recommend! Take the chance in buying them!
My son has sensory issues, is only two, and is blessed with amazingly thick gorgeous hair but hair cuts are horrendous! It’s something that I would have to build myself up to take him for because it was traumatic for me, the hair dresser and most of all traumatic for him.I read the reviews and thought these sound too good to be true but went out on a whim and bought them. I was worried I had spent £40 on something that was not going to be another thing that wasn’t going to work for him. Anyway I used them for the first time today, put on his favourite tv show and started cutting then… nothing. No crying, no making himself sick, no fighting to get away just the occasional hand up to wipe away the cut hairs. I still need to work on the technique, I cut the top a bit shorter than I planned but I can see his handsome face again and he is looking smart with his new haircut. These have to be one of the best things I have bought because although they are scissors/clippers to some this has saved our family so much tears and anxiety.I would recommend these to anyone who has sensory issues because they are an absolute god send!

Thank you 😊
My son is autistic and has sensory issues. To give you an idea just how bad hair cuts used to be it used to take two adults and a hairdresser to hold him to cut his hair causing great stress to all involved. My son would run from the hairdresser, run outside, scream, hit & kick out and spray the hair dresser with the water bottle when she tried using scissors or clippers. These scissors have meant i can cut my sons hair without help calmly while giving an even cut. These have made a huge difference to hair cuts at home and means we can do them in short bursts (more often) when he is in the right mood with no booking in the hairdresser.Could not be happier with this product!

Great alternative to clippers if your child has a phobea
Don't usually write a review although I always read them when buying products. But I would recommend trying these you can always return them if they not for you. I have just finished using these on my three year old. For what ever reason he absolutely hates clippers. On his first visit to my usual barbers for my other son who does have medical and learning difficulties. He got that worked up he was sick all over. I've been back a few more times but it is embarrassing the amount he screams. I have ended up resorting to diy with my husband's clippers. Which would be my son clipped into a chair booster seat with my husband keeping his hands down, him screaming at top note with me holding his head whilst trying to clipper his hair. Today started with him in booster seat no husband to help. He fussed at first but distracted him by giving him some brushes so each time a did a run of cutting I would let him then brush the cut hair away. I thought at first I may have to take two sitting to get it all complete. But to my amazement he settled with a bit of disgruntlement. He certainly didn't spend the whole time screaming. so i think a few more goes he'll be fine and hopefully I'll master the art of getting a perfect cut. Summed up these are a great alternative to clippers and looking forward to trying them again. Only didn't give 5 stars due to a bit strange to use but I image after a few more uses I will get used to them.

Best product for hair cutting in the world
The best we have ever used! This product is incredible! Usually my son would scream getting his hair cut he has autism and spd but he was happy calm and relaxed! I love how the pack had a tips list also and the instructions are so simple :-)I work with children with special educational needs and I will be adding this product to my recommendation lists :-)

Highly recommend
My 2 year old has decided he doesnt like clippers anymore or scissors by his head but with the heat he desperately needed a haircut. They arrived next day in a really nice case, when my son was asleep I managed to cut his hair from behind the pram, being left handed made this quite awkward but still achievable. I was worried it would look choppy as didnt have time to do much blending but it actualy looks really good. The price for a modest income is a bit high but I think it will easily pay for itself so I would defintly recommend.
