Love this thing
Love this thing. I have a very energetic 4 y/o lab/amstaff mix and we go on rides around the neighborhood all the time since I got this two weeks ago. He does have some issues with getting excited over seeing other dogs out normally, but this thing keeps him in place. It's yet to snap and I pray it doesn't as he sometimes gets distracted and wants to play with the other dogs. He ends up pulling and making us go faster - who am I to complain when he does all the work?My only concern is that I have to constantly remove the green arm from the black supporting anchor thing because of how my bike is designed, and the pivot nubs are getting rubbed down.Aside from that, this is a great product. Like with anything else with your dog, start slowly. I walked my bike with my dog attached until I felt he was ready to go a little faster, then we started riding slowly and eventually he picked up the pace to a jog. Luckily my neighborhood is quiet enough that we were able to do some training uninterrupted by traffic. Make sure your dog is comfortable with the bike and responsive both to you and leash corrections to make this product last as long as possible. And if you have a rowdy dog, I'd suggest you exercise them a different way before attempting to use this then feel like you wasted your money because it broke from inappropriate use. Even then why not double your security by attaching a leash as well in case it does break and your dog decides to run off? Just a friendly tip ;)

... with the fact that my dog and i just love our bike rides even more
I have to start with the fact that my dog and i just love our bike rides even more. I gave 4 stars because i don't like the fact that it is made of plastic and i am not 100% sure that it wont brake on our walks/runs. I have a 50 lb , 8 mo old doggy and have to admit that she gets distracted sometimes and pulls me, but i never fell or nothing bad has happened (so far), but i notice the plastic base of the tow is kind of shredding away...i'm scared that it will brake, just because of that plastic part that is attached to the wheel. In the video for this product it says that when you don't use it, just put it up in a vertical position or take it apart... well, taking it apart needs too much strength in your hands and putting it up straight wont work because the spring that suppose to hold it is too loose.I am using it quite often ever since i bought it 3 mo ago. I don't recommend this plastic made product for bigger/heavier dogs than 50 lb, or if so then the dog has to be well behaved on walks.

This would be more suited for a large dog?
IT didn't work for me? The part that was suppose to be able to connect to my bicycle post (wheel) there wasn't any room on my wheel post. With all of the washers and bolts there were no room, and I thought that the leash part was a little longer but that was quite short, so when I tried to ride just holding the apparatus out, it was a bit of a disaster. I had to return the apparatus. Plus my dog is small and this would work better for a large dog.

Works Well
Easy installation. Plastic is flexible but durable, allowing your dog some front to back leeway. My dogs have bent it back a full 90° many times and it returns to shape with no damage. Easy to remove the arm for regular riding. The arm pivots up, but is not really held in the up position, so it needs to be removed for dogless rides. The product works as advertised, and is a good value. The only negative is the too short lead that comes with the product, but this is easily remedied, and probably all of the bike leashes will need some "customization" for leads, so I kept the 5 stars. I removed the provided lead (left the "key ring" in place), and used a piece of flexible, stretchy exercise tubing about 12" long tied to leash clips on each end. Along with the arm, this provides a larger radius for the dog's position, and more time for you and your dog to adjust to speed differentials and directions, without tugging on the dog as hard. It's like having a longer lead but won't tangle in your dog's legs.I've used this with a rowdy 6 mo old rat terrier, who is mostly leash trained but will sometimes take off (you know how teenagers are!), and a well trained 30 lb pug, who has bent the arm every which way when we stop for a break. There might be better choices for taller, larger dogs - locating the mounting point higher to keap the lead out of their feet, and I just can't comment on the durability of the arm with a 100 lb dog, but.....A large, strong dog needs to be very well leash trained before tying it to a bike or some bad things are going to happen to you, the bike, and the dog. If I had a big bruiser, I'd probably use a harness, tie him to the front, and let him tow me rather than run along side the bike. The low tie off point of this product does make it more difficult for the dog to tip you and the bike by pulling.I can't emphasize enough the importance of having strong command of your dog before exercising them with a bike. A lot of bad things CAN happen, but if the dog is properly leash trained and your are the pack leader, all will go well. Start with walking, then a slow trot, then increasing speed as the dog figures it out. It may take several outings before you are "up & running".

Funktioniert gut
