when it says protects against ultraviolet rays, is it talking about just from the sun or could they be used for low light welding also?

The lens block 99.9% of UVA and UVB rays. This do not provide IR protection and can not be used in an environment with welding.

No they are not (useful trick to tell if glasses are polarized: most cell phones use a polarizing filter to show you an image. Which means if you look through the glasses and rotate you phone around a few times, you will clearly see the screen go from visable to dark. The darker the screen, the better the polarizing is on the glasses. These glasses have 0 or at least nearly 0 polarizing on them)
