Needed tty on nvidia jetson to trace a bug in the boot. Simple to install. Hardly no setup needed. Works great.

Some reviews of this product complained about this DTech USB to TTL Serial cable not working with Windows 11 and/or getting a counterfeit device. I can't really verify whether mine was counterfeit but it showed up as a "Prolific PL2303GC USB Serial COM Port" in Device Manager on Windows 11 immediately, without having to hunt for drivers. I configured Putty to connect via serial, keyed in the COM Port that Device Manager defined the adapter as, connected the ground/TX/RX leads to the appropriate place on the Linksys EA6350v2's board, and gave the router power. Everything worked perfectly and allowed me to do the necessary things over serial to flash FreshTomato onto the router's flash memory. Included with the cable was a small pamphlet serving as documentation as well as a pinout/schematic of what's inside the slightly oversized USB connector.

Bought this cable so I could console into my Netgear Nighthawk r7000 router to unbrick it. it worked like a charm. Only downside is I had to figure out what cable was for what port, as the cables are not easily identified, and the instructions had them wrong. Eventually, I figure out and got my router back up.

Works great on my raspberry pi to allow a host computer to do serial communication to the Pi.

It is a common feature of similar cables that they can invert the data signal. Apparently the chip included in this DTECH cable does not support the inversion, or it is not documented. I tried to contact DTECH customer support but I did not get a response. The cable includes a PL-2303 GC chip which may not offer inversion unlike alternative, more expensive products. For certain applications, e.g. reading the P1 interface of a DSMR compatible smart power meter inversion is needed.

I used this cable to connect my Linux Ubuntu box to Jetson Orin Nano serial port pins. The Linux machine identified it as ttyUSB0 and I was able to use it with software control to communicate with my Jetson box.

I spent 5 hours today, using three laptops (two Windows and one Linux), several serial communication apps and a few different connection jacks without success. On-line AI had me try all the things I had already tried tried and then had me download and install older drivers suggesting that some cheaper Chinese 2302 chips are not compatible with new drivers. Nothing worked. I just lost a day of my life. Time to buy a different product perhaps with a different, more reliable chip like a CP2102 or CH340.

I used this cable to repair a bricked Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router following a bad flash of DD-WRT. Everything performed as expected. The USB device was automatically recognized in Windows 10 and I successfully connected to the router via serial port using Putty. I was then able to use TFTP to upload firmware to the router and now its as good as new. The photo I've attached shows how I connected the TX/RX/GND wires to the R7000 router.
