The Fate of Fausto: A Painted Fable

Do not buy for a young child.
Because of the good reviews, I bought this book for my almost 5 yr old granddaughter for Christmas. This book with its dark ending is no book for a little one. I get the doomed ending for a narcissistic character, but this isn’t exactly a pleasure read for a little kid.

This Is Not for Children Only
For the theme, the irony, and the lesson to humankind this fable earns 5 stars and my deepest respect to the author! For blank wasted pages of paper and mediocre art work less respect. Fewer stars. But, this fable struck my soul-core. Everyone should read and heed. I have to give it all my love. 5⭐️

Better title: "How Not to b a Jerk - for Children and Adults"
The title sounds too heavy for children, but this book is more like Rumplestiltskin rather than Faust. Perfect for read-along with a beginning reader - the content, pace, and vocabulary are on target. I bought it for my grandchildren, and read it myself upfront. The story hooked me, and the ending made me laugh. Length is just right for a beginning reader - I read it cover-to-cover in less than 5 minutes.

Fate Of Fausto
It was a disappointment. Narrative seemed disconnected ted.

Amazing
We absolutely love this book. The book is well paced and sparse spreads add to the effect of the story. The message is clear and poignant. Oliver Jeffers is one of our favorite author/illustrators and he once again delivered.

Read it to someone you love, it's brilliant
Another stunning, beautifully illustrated, well thought out book from Oliver J. Slightly dark, but what a message for children & adults alike. Read beyond the ending to see the inspiration, the timing of the writing, illustration, publishing - even the choice of typefront.

Stunning
This book is beautiful!! I bought it because the illustrations are gorgeous and I have a bit of a thing about paper quality and this one is printed on lovely paper. I told my partner I was buying it for our 7 month old but that was a lie, there's no way she'd appreciate this book the way I do. Perhaps in a few years time!

Breathtaking
The Fate of Fausto is a big step away from Oliver Jeffer's other picture books, but it is an excellent, beautifully illustrated book about the pitfalls of wanting too much. Every picture book lover needs to own a copy.

Beautiful story for our time
I will enjoy sharing this message from this story with my children about what it is to honour our world and how to love and protect it for what it is. Fantastic story and stunning illustrations that emphasise the meaning behind perfectly.
