Less laborious
Easy to make sambar, especially for idlis or dosas (off course you have to add sambar onions and garnishing). Not that much okay along with rice.

If you want a powdery sambhar
This is nothing like the watery, tangy 'fun' sambhar from sarvana or other s. Indian places....this will be chalky, powdery sambhar liketasting 'somthing'... ur call

a good labor saving addition to the kitchen
Most 'mixes' or powders don't taste good.This one is quite good in flavor and density. Tastes no different from the ground-up item.But it still needs body. I use a lot of tomatoes and give the final sambar a Tadka and coriander leaves, and it comes out fine.
