So far so good, but is there a conspiracy?? Dunn Dunn DUNNNNNN! ;-)
So far it works great. I've had it for three days. When I did a speed test I actually got an insane speed compared to my cable modem from Time Warner I'm sure they will adjust that though. I was barely getting 30 megabytes per second and it went 50+ each time I tested it on the first day. I noticed a theme though. I do wonder if Time Warner Cable sends out some little signal to make these not work after a while. The common theme here, and it doesn't matter the brand, everyone who does complain about their modem is that it does not work after some time. It is ironic that when you get a cable modem usually from the cable provider you can end up with a cable modem for years until they upgrade and you never really have issues with the modem itself I mean. Maybe once in a while. But my experience has been pretty smooth over the years at home using the modem provided by the cable company. If this one goes out in 3 to 4 months or within the year, I can't help but think that the cable company does something to ruin them. It's not in their best interest for you to save monthly especially when they have millions of subscribers. Anyways I got the SquareTrade warranty on it so we'll see how it goes. I could just be crazy, but at the same time there is that glaring fact, no matter the brand, so it's worth noting. Also why only ones they approve of? If a manufacturer makes a modem and its FCC compliant and can handle the cable internet as stated, you should be able to use whatever modem you want just like an oil filter aftermarket or an air filter aftermarket in your vehicle. As long as it's built to code it should be perfectly fine. They shouldn't dictate which ones you should be able to use as long as it does what it claims. So is TW an evil and greedy cable company that makes billions a year profit (like Verizon) and wants you to pay that modem fee, or are some simply having an innocent mishap with their cable modem? We'll see.

DOES NOT WORK WITH COMCAST BUSINESS CLASS SERVICE
BUSINESS CLASS USERS BE WARNED! Even if a modem is listed as "Comcast Approved" apparently (as I just discovered) this has nothing to do with business service. So, for example, Comcast refuses to provision my brand new D-Link DMC-301. You have to use the slider at the top right to find business class approved modems: http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/After escalating up to a supervisor two other things came up: Only the Netgear CG3000DCR and the SMC SMCD3G-CCR work with static IPs. No other modem can be provisioned with static IPs (which I have). Just those two. Finally, the supervisor clearly stated that even if I were to obtain one of these two modems (ie; not renting them) they would still not be able to provision it as COMCAST REQUIRES YOU TO RENT IF YOU HAVE STATIC IPs. Since they're not retail devices you can't get them easily anyway (nice trick guys!). They did make it clear if I eBayed one they would not provision it. They have to pre-configure them at the office before they go out for statics.Don't waste your time and money like I did trying to go about this any other way. If you have perm IPs and business service you're stuck renting a device which doesn't have SNMP -or- IPv6 support (ultra lame). So unimpressed and annoyed at wasting half a day (so far -- still have to return the D-Link modem, too). Hopefully this saves someone from doing the same.At least AMZ let me return it. I can't bring myself to drop stars for this .. never got a chance to use the modem itself but that's not D-Link's fault.

Great modem with only one minor drawback.
I received this modem from Amazon earlier this week and I'm totally happy with its performance. My old modem was a DOCSIS 2 WiFi modem and this one is DOCSIS 3 so the improvements were immediately apparent after setting it up and getting it working. The setup only required calling my ISP (WOW) and giving them the MAC address and within 5 minutes the modem was up and running. The original modem/router from my ISP wouldn't allow for setting static IP addresses and their refusal to let me into the router to change settings beyond changing SSID, password and turning off the WiFi function is the reason I went with my own separate Modem and WiFi Router, not to mention the $7.00 per month lease fee . As one other reviewer stated, the IP address and password for this modem is not easily found but is required if you want to change the password from the default one (the default password was "password", DUH) and turn on the firewall from it's default of OFF. (Thank You A. Benson!!) I'm not sure why D-Link wouldn't routinely supply that info and instructions how to use it. There is a reset button on the back if you mess it up that will bring you back to the unit's default settings. I used the same D-Link DIR-655 WiFi router with the DCM-301 that I used with my ISP's original unit after turning off the original modem/router's WiFi function. It took two hours on the phone with WOW to get the ability to get into their router as they don't like people messing around inside their equipment even if we are technically competent to do so, more reason to get my own stuff. I only gave this modem 4 stars because of the lack of info about getting into it to customize its settings. Performance wise, five stars would be in order.
