Igloo 12-Volt DC Power Cord, Black (25121)

I have had my thermoelectric cooler for at least 10 years and haven't used it all that much but last month, on a trip to the beach, we used it in the car on the way over to the coast. When I took it out of the van, the fused end of the cord fell on the pavement and broke open. I was just sure I would have to toss the cooler as it was so old but I got on Amazon and there this cord was. It is a perfect fit and works just like it should. The only thing I would say is that the plastic end with the fuse in it is a little flimsy so I would take care in using it. It is good to know some companies still make parts for their older products.

I have a 15-year old Koolmate thermoelectric cooler that has been sitting around my garage for the last few years. For a recent family trip, I decided to pull it out and see if it still worked. Unfortunately, this particular cord had been damaged and was unusable. I searched all over the internet, but could never be sure THIS was the cord I needed. I finally contacted Igloo and was assured that all their thermoelectric coolers, even the old ones, use the same cord. So, I purchased this cord with a great deal of trepidation. It arrived quickly, and lo-and-behold, it fit and my cooler now works perfectly!

INITIAL POST (see update below). I bought this to replace the power cord for the smaller 28 qt. Igloo iceless cooler. Original cord had broken at male end. But the female end of this Igloo-branded cord was too wide to fit into the power receptacle on the cooler; it IS described on the box and on Amazon's site as fitting Igloo Iceless coolers (plural, so both sizes). But it certainly did NOT fit this one; I returned it, got a quick Amazon refund (they are good about that). See photo: the one returned is the top one; the lower one is the original which came with the 28 qt. cooler (the female end is still good; it broke at the male end). I lined them up to show the width difference. My 28 qt. Igloo cooler is not an old purchase; I bought it from Amazon just 2 years ago. It turns out Igloo changed design and their own marketed cord no longer fits the older design. SUMMING UP: if you own the 28 qt. cooler, unless bought recently this product will NOT fit. It more or less fits the larger cooler [the separate AC/DC converter cable does fit both the older and newer designs]. UPDATE 10/4/25: I found a cable on Amazon that fits! No help from Igloo CS, which told me they no longer stock the cord which fits the current design of the 28 quart cooler, and confirmed that the cooler was recently redesigned (no date, but obviously since I bought mine just 2 years ago). "We apologize for the inconvenience" was all I could get out of them, the "inconvenience" being that the cooler was inoperable. GOOD NEWS, however: Amazon sells a 3rd party power cord that exactly fits the previous design of the 28 quart cooler (the lower plug in my photo). I got it today, and I have it running right in front of me now. Can't vouch for its quality or durability, but it does work. Not sure if Amazon lets me post a link, but search Amazon on "CSBY 2m 12v DC Replacement..." and you should find it; at $9.79 it is also the cheapest of the power cords. One of the photos in the Amazon product descriptions gives the exact cord female end measurements, which is how I guessed (correctly) it would fit. Appears to be solid and well made but since I didn't use it I can't comment on its quality. I gave 4 stars because I cant reliably discredit it. I purchased it in hopes of replacing the burned out cord that came with the Koolatron Thermoelectric Iceless 12V Cooler Bag but the pin end was way too big to fit the cooler hookup so I'm returning it. It probably work great with the Coleman cooler!

Fit my igloo cooler perfectly.

I used the original plug with the cooler on 4 very long car trips. It worked very well but the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter socket gets very hot. I was quite careful to be sure nothing covered this area up. Eventually this plug on the cord melted. The new one works fine with no problems. In general I love the cooler and it worked very well for us. We plug it in to the socket in the motel room when we stop at night and with this cord plug it in to the cigarette lighter in the car.

My Igloo power cord was getting very hot in the power plug in. It was melting the device. The centre power connector would no longer spring back. The new power plug from Igloo seems like a newer design. The centre power connector is longer and the plug in goes into the car's plug much harder. The plug in no longer gets hot...just a bit warm. A good purchase to keep my car fridge going.

Fits perfectly for our rolling Igloo cooler. Our original power cord overheated indoors (be aware) , so we needed a replacement.

tengo una hielera electrotermica y perdi el cable en un viaje hace 15 años, nunca pude conseguir un repuesto hasta ahora que lo encontré en amazon, muchas gracias a amazon por solucionar un problema que yo pensaba que era imposible de resolver.

Funciona para que el equipo (igloo) caliente o para que enfríe, simplemente hay que invertir la polaridad (se muestra en el cable con códigos de color en la punta).
