What's the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Thee Oh Sees? Probably their riot-sparking live show, right? Visions of a guitar-chewing, speaker-smothering, tongue-wagging John Dwyer careening across your cranium, chased by a wild-eyed wrecking crew that drives every last hook home like it's a nail in the coffin of what one thought it meant to make 21st century rock 'n' roll? Yeah, that sounds about right. But it misses a more important point-how impossible Thee Oh Sees have been been to pin down since Dwyer launched it in the late '90s as a solo break from such sorely missed underground bands as Pink and Brown and Coachwhips. That restlessness extends to everything from the towering, thirteen-minute title track of 2010's Warm Smile LP to the mercurial moods of 2008's the Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In. And then there's the home-brewed symphonies of Castlemania and the high-wire hooks of Carrion Crawler / the Dream, which dropped a second drum set among sunburnt organs, dovetailing guitars and rail-jumping rhythms. If one prefers a slightly more subtle musical awakening, there's always Putrifiers II, the latest in a long line of Oh Sees albums that expands the group's sound well past your friendly neighborhood garage band. So while the space-odyssey nods of "Wax Face" actually sound like they're meant to melt one's ears straight off, the record's full of deviant detours, from the poison-tipped string parts and Eno-esque engineering of "So Nice" to the groove-locked Krautrock inclinations of "Lupine Dominus." the most noticeable element may be Dwyer's melodies, however, as they reveal a softer side to his songwriting, one that makes perfect sense considering just how disparate his dust-clearing influences are. Scott Walker, the Velvet Underground, the Zombies and the experimental Japanese act Les Rallizes Denudes are but a small taste of what informed Thee Oh Sees this time around, as Dwyer returned to the multi-instrumental ways of Castlemania-full-band sessions for another record are already underway-and rounded out a fuller, drier sound with drummer / engineer Chris Woodhouse and special guests like Mikal Cronin (sax), Heidi Maureen Alexander (trumpet, vocals) and K Dylan Edrich (viola).

I've always loved this band
Another punch in the face to followers who keep going in circles. Yes Putrifiers is another rocanroll testimony and they are ready to testify yet again with this stormy punk rock glory hookas and furius melodies only heard in Thee cuality of Thee Sees. They don't need to be Profesors of technicallity because they know how to do their shit damn well. Thee Oh See way. Get ready to be blown. BOOM!

Album of the year?
This is probably the album of the year. You don't have to listen to it, just buy it. If you don't like it, wipe your personality and taste, and start building again. Still don't like it ... I told you to wipe yourself clean. There. Its good, no? Perhaps the album of the year? You're welcome, fellow opinion seeker.

Great new band. San Francisco has a nice Garage Rock scene happening
If you like Ty Seagull, The Heavy Eyes, etc you'll love Thee oh Sees. Highly recommended only from the vinyl format. Packaging is cool for a low budget LP also.Best of all, it's got some originality to it. Not completely original, as not much is, but it will be played a lot.

Best complete album in years
Very well put together. Love all the songs and their order. Similar to Pink Floyd, Animals, I felt like I was being led to a sort of spooky place and shown around. Thanks Oh Sees!

Get Your Wax Face On!
Another brilliant album from Thee Oh Sees. "Carrion Crawler/The Dream" was oneof very few rock albums that kicked serious amount of elephant-ass in 2011,but(as with a lot of other solid albums) it didn't make that much of an impact. With" Putrifiers" they go in another direction. There are a couple of great riffed-up,pounding songs on it that wouldn't be out of place on "Carrion Crawler", the hecticecho-drenched opener" Wax Face" and "Lupine Dominus".Those aside, the rest of the material leans toward 60s pop music: Beatles, doo-wop andThe Velvet Underground("So Nice"), adding sax, harmonies, trumpet and viola to theequation. "Hang a picture" is one of the catchiest songs Dwyer has penned, it's flat outgorgeous, with hooks that will strike yer mind.Standouts: Wax Face, Lupine Dominus, Hang a picture, Goodbye Baby, So Nice.

Zooish and pet friendly
Tamed some of their gutturalness for the sake of combining pop with lost structures. prob ably only rivalled by the parting gifts who they possibly have something in common with on a personnel level.Ty Segall matches them but they are a bit more experimental.

More to come
This collection of ep tracks is a real mixed bag.Opening up with there default garage setting early tracks passed me by.However, the later tracks expand the sound, they become loosier more psych even a little bit baroque!I'm reserving judgement for the moment.
