I love Nikita Gill. I haven’t ever purchased one of her books. I decided that I would wait to purchase this new one once I found out about it. In fact, I pre-ordered it because I was so excited.It’s not Nikita’s fault, but because I don’t have a good understanding of mythology a lot of this seemed to be over my head/less than enjoyable. I love her other works, but this one wasn’t a good fit for me. If mythology is your thing then this book is for you.Also, the back of my book has a real ugly crease which is disappointing since this is brand new and just came out today.I’m going to gift this book to a friend who likes mythology and buy one of Nikita Gill’s other works. The passage I took a picture of is one of the only ones I understood and I really loved it! If this book doesn’t work out for you, please give her other books a try!

I chose this for @book_roast’s #magicalreadathon a few months back (and paired it with her other book of poems, Fierce Fairytales, another really great read!) This one really stuck out to me between the pair of books, and I have to admit I liked it much better. I am a huge lover of Greek myths so I had a good basic understanding of the tales themselves. It was very empowering to see some new interpretations of the stories, all told from the female perspective. Considering that all of the OG myth-tellers were male (Homer, Hesoid, Ovid, Virgil, Herodotus…) this book brings a breath of fresh air to the readings. I really enjoyed the short versions of these myths retold, and I loved how the book was structured―the poems were organized like the gods’ genealogy tree, which I thought was really cohesive and gave a good sense of chronology. featuring hand-drawn illustrations by the author. If you like myths and feminism, you will like Great Goddesses.

I found this book to be a perfect read before going to the land of nod. These magical stories will stir your sense of existence and contemplate our ethereal connection to nature, each other, and "the gods". A book of magical meanings that parallel reality.

It's really well written, but I thought this was gonna be like a feminist power manifesto of stories of all the goddesses and then it's a lot of mythology following the god and goddess' stories, but with a lot of bad or okay endings. Just not the power manifesto I thought it was going to be. AWESOME DRAWINGS THOUGH. So fun read, but I like the Fierce Fairytales better.

Beautiful book. Amazon did not package very well and damaged it, which is quite unfortunate. I love this item. Just wish Amazon had taken better care of it.

There's no one like Nikita Gill. She's always elevating her art. Great Goddesses is next level. I didn't give an eff about Greek mythology until I read this book.

You have to know all of the myths for it to make any sense to you. I did love Fierce Fairytales, but a lot of it sounds redundant. A lot of it I wouldn't categorize as poetry either.

Just perfection thats all. If you love greek mythology from a different perspective this one the one. Only got it a couple weeks ago already half way through because sometimes i just have to read some over once more because it was so powerful! I love Nikita’s poetry and Relate to most of her work!

Beautiful work. I adored each and every page and could hardly put the book down. The entire collection made me quite emotional at times, which is precisely what I want from good writing. Easily one of my new favourite books. I look forward to more Nikita Gill works.

This is an exceptional collection, Nikita Gill has an incredible way of using language and narratives to evoke deep emotions from her reader.
