This but performed really well, cutting quickly and easily. Only cut 8, 2 inch mortises at 1 inch deep, so can’t tell about longevity yet. Still sharp though.

I use a up-cut spiral bit for cutting round tables and this bit is fast and causes very minimal tear out (even on cherry) It is a high quality bit that I will get a lot of use out of, and the 1 1/2" cutting height is very versatile. Often I need to cut 1" wood, and a 1" bit is to little but a 2" bit is cumbersome ( even dangerous). the 1 1/2" cutting length is perfect. The up-cut design throws the sawdust & chips up which keeps the cut clean on multiple passes instead of packing the trench full.

Whiteside bits were recommended to me by a fellow woodworker. I use them to rout out mortises and they work great. I've use this brand several times and they are still sharp and make clean cuts in the wood.

It's hard to write much on Whiteside router bits that hasn't already been written. Like all Whiteside products, this bit is simply a tiny work of art. Absolutely perfect machining, top quality carbide, ridiculously sharp, and cuts seemingly forever before needing a sharpening. The slightly higher initial cost of a Whiteside router bit versus a cheap import is quickly outweighed by the fact that the Whiteside will cut many times the length of the cheap bit without tearout or damage to the expensive workpiece. This bit made glassy clean cuts on soft and hardwoods for mortises on several projects and still cuts like new.

I originally tried to get away with a $20 HSS spiral upcut bit for making box joints with my router. That one burned up all black and blue after making a handful of cuts. This one made out of solid carbide is way sharper out of the box and holds its edge much better. Buy once, cry once.

Whiteside router bits are by far the best cutters available. They are made in the USA. They cost a little more but, cut better, last longer and, are more accurate. Buy Whiteside!
