Whiteside is generally accepted as being the premier manufacturer of router bits. You might pay a bit more, but if they’re going to be frequently used or your product demands the best, the slight additional cost is well worth it in my opinion. That being said, I would not hesitate to purchase a Freud bit either.It is important to note that this is a “downcut” spiral bit. This means the cutting action pushes fibers down into the stock (not up and out as with the more common “upcut” spiral bit). This is very helpful when used on veneered or highly figured stock as it provides a cleaner cut (almost no chance of tearout), which is why I bought it.

Chucked these up in my CNC to recreate an antique desk divider set and the the cuts were clean as could be asked for and chip free.
