Works beautifully
Love these drain protectors. I have quite a considerable mane of hair, so a "hair snare" of some sort is necessary. In the past, I've used multiple types in the past, most of which were plastic/synthetic and they all had unfavorable issues. The POSITIVE points:- Holes are small enough to catch hair, but large enough to allow water to flow through easily. You don't end up standing in a tub full of water.- This particular model is perfect size for the drain in a tub/shower combination. OXO also makes one for the larger size shower drains.- The synthetic ring helps it to gently cling to the drain area, without impeding the flow of water and hair catching ability. The weight is substantially more for this design (stainless), than most others (plastic), but not too heavy. Just a nice, yet appropriate heft.- The stainless steel is durable and rust proof.- The hair is very easy to remove from the protector, just lift it off, it doesn't cling or go in the holes making it tangle.- AAA+++ all the way, another winning design by OXO (and NO I wasn't paid, nor did I receive anything for my review!) Just a darn good product. The NEGATIVE points:- None really- One customer complained that it wouldn't stay put while he was taking a bath. Note to that customer: Sir, you have a physics problem. NO drain protector is designed to stay put during a bath, you see the force of the water swishing around, negates the natural weight and design of this product or any drain protector for that matter - hence the water 'current' moves it. You don't need the drain protector whilst taking a bath anyway, you need it when the tub is draining. Place the drain protector over the drain when you switch from bathing to draining; it will work fine. If for some reason, you do still want one that stays put while bathing, try one of the plastic ones with suction feet on the bottom. I can tell you though, after using MANY drain protectors, this one is far and away the best I've encountered. Used properly, it's a winner!

Good Overall, Need to Clean Before and After Each Use
I’ve tried several tub drain covers, but most either shift easily when water hits them or don’t fit snugly over the drain. This one is much better — the silicone edge grips the tub firmly, so hair doesn’t slip underneath. The net is made of sturdy stainless steel, which means no warping or bending like with plastic ones. The only downside is the small holes: they catch hair well, but require cleaning after every shower. If any hair is left behind — or even just foamy water — it can slow down the drain significantly. Overall, it’s a solid product — just be prepared to clean it after (or even before) each use to avoid any water backup.

Best drain strainer EVER!!
FINALLY! You would think finding a good drain screen would be relatively straightforward, but nope. I have curly hair that sheds a lot when I wash and detangle it, and it quickly fills up the drain strainers that promise to “catch hair”. Ok great, it caught the hair. Now my drain is stopped up and the tub is filling with water. Lol.This Oxo drain protector is as brilliant as it is simple. When my hair inevitably covers it, all I have to do is use my foot to move the hair off to the side, and the drain flows with ease. I am SO grateful to not have to bend over mid-shower and dig a bunch of hair out of a drain screen, only for it to fill up a minute later. If you have a standard sized tub drain, this will work for you, because it sits right on top of the drain, and only covers the metal part, not the actual surface of the tub. My tub isn’t flat so none of those fancy extra wide ones fit properly. Also, I have very hard water, and it causes bar soap to gum up every other drain strainer I’ve tried. Well, not this one!! There’s no little pocket of nastiness to clean out. It really is the little things in life that bring joy sometimes. Who doesn’t want a smoother, more pleasant daily showering experience? So so happy with my purchase!!

A must-have for long haired people with uncovered drain holes!
Not a whole lot to say here, it's just a shower drain after all. However, I definitely am happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone. A good, inexpensive, attractive fix to anyone who needs to keep hair from going down an unprotected drain.Realistically, if I were a homeowner or if I were more invested in the place I live I would probably install a permanent drain cover that screws into the drain. However, I am renting my apartment and to me it was worth it to get a cheap little drain cover instead of just letting the hair go down the drain en masse and causing buildup and clogging, leading to expensive plumber visits or constantly having to buy more drain-o. I am a woman in my 20's with long hair who has been living in older rental homes with various other long-haired young women for the last seven years... boy do I wish I had the insight to buy one of these years ago. I've probably spent $100 on drain-o over that time span, when I could have just used this little thing and taken it with me from place to place. The drain cover doesn't have any suction or anything to keep it in place which irritated me at first because I thought, how will this stay in place? Luckily, it hasn't moved at all and I've had it for about a week. You can easily pick it up and shake it over a trash can to get the hair off it without touching the hair, which is nice. It does slightly impede drainage, but not very much and certainly not enough to back up the drain more than wads of hair would.

Works great
For years, we had used the plastic type with the suction cups. They got nasty and needed replaced and I am so happy with this new drain cover. It works so much better and also looks nicer as well.
