For homeowners it's a must! Contractors maybe not?
I'm a painting contractor. I always like trying out new things to see if we can speed up any productivity. I've only used it on one job. For the homeowner who plans on painting their own home it's an absolute must to get nice clean lines. For the painting contractor once you get used to it it's for sure can save a lot of time on baseboard taping. We use it on the baseboards for a home and then we added the brown paper afterwards. And it worked well. I was actually surprised that it cuts off perfectly in corners like it advertises that it does so that was pretty cool. I'll change my review in a few months after we've used it some more.

Everyone should have one
I stumbled upon this little tool while researching how to make my paint job easier and obviously I was desperate and purchased a lot of things since I was painting over 6000 sq ft interior. I purchased this thinking it probably wouldnt work but I had hope and wow did this thing pay for itself in just a hour. I could tape a whole room 12x14 as accurate as any professional painter could possibly do in less than 10 mins and this includes all of the crown and all of the base board. Great job accutaper keep up the good work. I am thinking about buying another one as I am only half way done with the house just incase the other one breaks since it is only made of plastic. I wish the wheel was a little more durable but other than that its a Must have for any painter.

Husband likes it, too big for my hand
This product does lay tape quickly and neatly, as stated. It is too big for my hand, but my husband likes it. I gave it only 4 stars because we found that the device alone, even when my husband was careful (and he's quite strong), did not adhere well enough to keep paint from seeping underneath. I still had to go back with a credit card and burnish the tape tightly to the woodwork to keep (most) of the paint out.But it does get the tape up quickly, if your hands aren't too small.

Not so much "handy" as we thought.
Bought this in order to help my husband be speedy with the taping of our house while we do renovations. Not so much. He said that the roll wouldn't say where it was supposed to and that it caused more problems then good. The paper backing/packaging that came on the applicator came mangled so when we return this product I'll be sure to return the portion that I kept with the instructions on it.He ended up just doing it by hand with no applicator. The "good ol' fashioned way".

Needs a design change
I had a similar applicator that I purchased many years ago that I used because it did such a great job. It may have even been the same brand, though doubtful if the manufacturer wasn't in business 30 years ago. In any case, I have unfortunately misplaced that old applicator and wanted something similar. So, the pros about this product: It mostly operates in the same fashion as my old one did. It accepts any standard size tape up to 2" that also has a standard size middle hole. The tape can be adjusted in order to achieve a slight "indent" in its position that gives an edge to trim work onto the wall. That's a really good option to have and this applicator is the only new model I have found that allows that. Another handy feature is the tape cutter. It doesn't always work perfectly, but it did work most of the time. I liked that. Now the Cons: First, a design flaw. The underside of the applicator ( the one that runs along the surface to be taped) is bare, hard, black plastic. This results in a marking streak where the carriage runs along drywall surfaces that is quite noticeable. My old applicator had a strip of felt along this belly that prevented this. I used that concept, took some velcro and applied that to the carriage. That fixed the problem, however by the end of one room taping, the velcro had started to deteriorate so it's not a permanent fix. This is something that the manufacturer must add in order to prevent this marking of the surface. Second issue I had, because of the design, is the applicator is 1-way only. It cannot be reversed to go in an opposite direction, making the application a little more difficult. I worked through it, but it would have been nice to have this feature, like my old one had. This means 2 rollers and not just one. All that said, I gave this product a 3-star rating. If the "felt" material was added to this product I could easily give it a 5-star.

Taping edges is no longer a chore
Painting professionally and while most people accept a hand painted edge, there are always a few who want the absolute perfection of a taped edge. With the accutaper this is not only easy but I've found is faster than cutting in by hand. Now I tape everything and don't think twice about it. Even applying the 3M delicate tape within two hours of the paint drying (only burnishing the edge with a plastic putty knife) and have had very little paint pull off. Wondering if there is some type of felt type material that could be glued to the surface of the Acctutaper that glides along the wall--it does seem to drag and can scratch newly painted surfaces unless you are careful. Clever gizmo, a good investment.

If you hate masking and painting as much as I do.....this is for you
When it comes to painting, I absolutely despise it. Masking off the trim and ceiling have always been an hours long task. This applicator is the best thing since sliced bread. I used an 1 -1/2 inch green Frog tape and it worked like a charm. The built in cutter is very easy to use also. It will make your painting life so much easier.

Awesome product!
Awesome product!!...... I've been looking for something like this taper for some time now, but could never find something in the stores. Being a handyman , I belive that good tools will always make you money....by making your job easier and faster is what its all about. time is money. Well it always was a chore to tape edges put down....pull up , to make tape closer and straighter . work is tedious and time consuming.... riping or cutting tape to fit in corners is a thing of the past with the Accutaper gauge and cutter. it is so easy and fast to use that it paid for itself in the first job .
