Overlord Dark Legend is a brand new action adventure steeped in fairy tale lore with sinister, satirical twists. Set in a time before the original game (Overlord, 2007), players step into the role of a new younger Overlord and revel in command of the most vicious, yet lovable little critters in gaming ¿ the Minions. Forming a unique rampaging army, the Minions are a demonic, slavish and loyal horde of imp-like critters predisposed to violence. No matter: they¿re always ready and willing to follow even the most suicidal order, whether it's raiding villages for kicks and giggles or hurling themselves at enemies in the face of kamikaze odds in the beautifully rendered game world. With a story and characters that poke playful fun at fantasy cliché, our trainee tyrant will be able to take his growing pains out on the local fairy tale inhabitants as he protects his castle and lands

Decent but short and not as good as the original 2
It's not a bad game by any means I honestly played overlord 1 and 2 and never even knew about this one until recently. The graphics did not age very well but at the time of release in 2006 these graphics were pretty standard. It adds an interesting bit of lore to the overlord over all story and is a prequel but the down side is it is short and doesnt make connections it could have like mentioning future characters or villains. It's cheap though so being about the length of a dlc you can beat in a day it's worth the price. I also have to mention though if you liked the other 2 that were on xbox the control scheme is completely thrown out the window but that's less the developers fault and more so the wii's fault for forcing motion controls into every game in its catalogue.like I said though other then the clunky motion controls you can expect from most wii games and graphics that make sense for 14 years ago its amusing and still an overlord game. It's not necessary if you played the other 2 and leaves a few more questions than I expected there to be but its 14 bucks and way better than the slap in the face they released a couple years ago.

Combination of Pikmin and Goblin Commander
Overlord: Dark Legend is essentially what you would get if you crossed Pikmin with Goblin Commander. You, the Overlord, have a group of goblin-like Minions following you around that will obey your every command--from fighting enemies and moving objects to sacrificing themselves for you. The result is a game that mixes action-RPG elements with a touch of strategy.Controls: 9/10 You use the Wii remote pointer to guide your minions. By holding the "B" button you can sweep them anywhere on screen. If they encounter breakable objects or enemies they will kill/destroy it. You can call them back with the "A" button. You can choose which specific type of Minions you wish to command, or you can choose to guide all Minions at one time. Your Overlord can also attack if needed. Fortunately, the camera works very well. The "C" button centers the camera behind the Overlord, and you can hold it to turn with the Wii remote pointer. So far, I have had no camera problems to speak of.Graphics: 8/10 For a Wii game, the graphics are pretty good. There's plenty of color, and the characters look nice. I haven't seen anything so far that was particularly unimpressive.Sound/Music: 9/10 The music is appropriate for the game, and not overbearing. The voice acting is really good. Some chracters sound kind of silly, but it's kind of meant that way. There's plenty of humor in this game, and the voices add that extra touch of quirkiness.Story: 8/10 Nothing particularly magnificent, but the way the story is told is great. Gnarl, your soon to be advisor, narrates the background (great voice acting here, and pretty humorous). Apparently your father, Duke of Gromgard, wasn't doing a particularly good job of keeping his kingdom prosperous. He went on a quest to gain fortune, but failed. His wife left him in his absence, leaving him a very unhappy chap. He went on another quest leaving the Young Lord (the future Overlord) with his older siblings--two cruel twins that hate each other, but not as much as they hate him. On his 16th birthday, he gains the power of Overlord and takes control of the castle. Your job is to boost your kingdom up again, and make it prosper. As another reviewer pointed out, some of the quests involve fairy tale characters (Little Red Riding Hood, the Tooth Fairy, etc.), while others do not.The RPG elements are a nice touch. You can increase your Health and Mana by finding certain items, and you can upgrade your weapons and armor. Your Minions can also be upgraded, and can pick up weapons and armor on the field increasing their fighting ability. There's a pretty large area to cover (I've probably been through half of the map, and I've been playing for quite a few hours), and the different locales offer nice variety. Overall, I have been very impressed with this game, and advise anybody that enjoyed Pikmin or Goblin Commander to give this game a shot.

A surprisingly entry for the Wii
Just when you think the Wii has nothing to offer for the core gamer, along comes Overlord- Dark Legend, and I must say that it's a better experience than it's Xbox360 counterparts; at least in my opinion.Graphics- Actually some of the best graphics for Wii. This game resembles "Fable" for the Original Xbox due to it's "glowy" appearance. Lots of color, the Overlord himself is detailed quite nicely and the graphical effects are pretty good. I thought the backgrounds were done well, but the fact that the Wii DOESN'T have an analog stick dedicated to camera control will only speak against "draw distance" (which you really can't talk about too much). For what the Wii's capable of, this is a very good looking game and one of the Wii's best excluding first party titles. I was amazed at the detail. The little things like sunflowers or pumpkin patches or houses all pack detail.Score- 7/10Control- The control's simple enough, but at times I wish there was a "C-stick" so that I could rotate the camera with me, instead, the actual "C" button centers the camera, Z button is attack, A button is to call minions, B button is to make them attack or move to the desired direction you choose and you use the Wii-mote to point on the screen which serves as a cursor. There are other button uses like the Minus button which is used for the menu, and either 1 or 2 being used for pause. One thing I didn't like about this game is that there's no way to exit it or go to the main menu, you simply exit the game and it autosaves; period. This can be especially confusing if you didn't get a manual for this game.Score- 8/10Sound- I loved the sound. The music is forgettable but reminiscent of middle ages themed movies. The minions talk, you're given hints by the "guy" that talks to you and some of the dialog is funny. The best part about this game is the fact that everyone talks. This was the highest selling point of the game tbh.Score- 10/10Gameplay- This game can easily be compared to "Fable" for the Xbox; at least when it comes to the theme of it. But once you're really playing it, you'll notice that it actually has a branching and progressive story, but one that doesn't offer much in detail, in fact, you're basically going from point A to B, encountering a boss or obstacle and move further. You're the Overlord, who is a 16 year old kid given a Knight's armor saturated in evil powers. Of course, while the armor looks super menacing, you're given the power to control "Minions" which are comparable to gremlins in appearance but are your saving grace throughout the game. You'll encounter bosses and what not, but in a nutshell, it's a hack and slash with RPG elements and a decent story.Score- 8/10Overall, I'd highly recommend this game being that it's a lesser known title for the Wii and a good one at that. The graphics are good, the controls are responsive, the dialogue is excellent and it is well worth the purchase. It's one of the best looking Wii titles to date.

FUN AND ENJOYABLE
I remember playing overlord long time ago on pc. This one is a fun game and offers something fresh for wii owners. Medieval setting and dark kind of story. Its fun and enjoyable to play. The graphics looks fantastic as per wii standards. A pretty good game if you looking for some change for your wii experience. But one time play, complete it and keep it.
