Game changer for guitar practice for me!
This little gem is a game changer for guitar practice for me and at only 40 bucks it may the best toy I ever purchased for my guitar playing. Here is why I love it so far.1. I can practice with headphones now and all I have to do is plug in my guitar, headphones, and the iRig2 into my iPhone or iPad.2. Portable and small.3. No batteries needed!4. The free app has several useful practice features allowing me to do away with having several apps open at one time to practice. The free amplitube app has a tuner, can import and play backing tracks, can slow down tracks, can add effects without pedals, can access the iPad's mic, can record my practice sessions, has a metronome and more. One app to rule them all!5. I can also plug into an amp if I don't want to use headphones.6. I don't wake my wife and kid up when I practice and don't annoy them when they are watching TV.7. The sounds quality is excellent for my intended use. No feedback yet and the external gain control is nice too.8. The free app is easy to use. I figured out everything I will use in five minutes.9. Plug and play even for a newbie.10. I get to try more amps and effects than I could ever afford to buy or even want to buy without ever leaving the house. Of course, some of those will cost extra as in app purchases so keep that in mind.11. I practice more now because it is less of a pain to get going.12. I practice any where I want without having to bring an amp. Just my guitar and a few small items in my gig bag.A few observations. For the record, I am using an iPhone and iPad without issue so I can't speak to how it works with Android or others. Seems pretty sturdy. The mic velcro could be useful in the future for live use. Packaging is nice. It is smaller than I thought it would be. The extra cost for in app purchases may annoy some but after reading some complaints, I was pleasantly surprised by what is included. I can't believe it only cost $40 and that it works as advertised. Big surprise. I expected more bugs but I guess this is pretty basic technology. Unless you are playing live for money or you need professional quality recordings, I would skip the HD version and save $60 by getting this one.Extra pedals, drums, and amps cost more. They range individually for as low as $2.99 and as high as $99 for an "everything they sell" bundle. You can download the Amplitube app for free and have a look at all the extras before you even buy the irig2 if you like and then delete the app if you choose later.I should have purchased something like this a long time ago. Happy playing everyone!

NOT YOUR DADDY’S STOMP BOX!!!
I’ve wanted an iRig for a very long time but just never had an excuse to get one. I finally just went ahead and got it. Nice product and a decent price point. Caveat, I bought the one that is labels digital. This model won’t work with a trrs plug, that I know of , but has plenty of connection opportunities just like it is. If you are wanting an analog solution, get that version. Bundled software is pretty good, there are a plethora and probably better software out there. Sound quality is excellent as well overall construction feel of the box! Overall? Seems to do the trick!

I searched for many months before i did my purchase. This being USB C made a lot of difference. Definitely perfect product that i can do my practices at home without disturbing my neighbors.

Not sure if it's a 3 or 4, definitely not a 5
So I got this thinking I was going to go full on amplitube android, even buying a new phone with the pro audio from Samsung. Then I realized that the android version as at this point in time crap compared to apple or PC and have switched to PC as my main use, for which this is useless and I'm looking for the ideal replacement device (most PC's lack TRRS inputs). But that problem has more to do with my attempted uses than the device as it's not intended to work with PC.My general experiences so far...For amplitube PC, I use a rocksmith cable with ASIO4all drivers. Even with adjusted settings/buffers, the latency is annoying and very distracting. However, this is where the irig 2 shines. I can't detect latency using this in my phone. Zero problems on that front. Where it does have issues though is the reliability and cleanliness of the sound. Sometimes it is so crackly that I would rate it a two or a three. I have found two solutions. First use the noise gate stomp, it helps with the crackles. Second try unplugging and replugging the device, I get different results each time I plug it in (mainly on the headphone jack end) and sometimes can get it fairly clean, this works better for me than adjusting the gain. Decreasing volume on my phone sometimes helps a little too.One thing I dislike is the length of the cables. I makes it awkward to position everything where the headphones won't be too short without buying and extension for the headphone cord. I opted instead to use the amp line out with my amp headphones and things are much better as that cable is longer than standard headphones. So to sum it up with grades by featureLatency: ASound quality with the android app: anywhere from D to A-, just depends. Might be better with iphone/ipad since it's been around longer and more refined with more plugin options, but I haven't tried thatErgonomics: C unless you have an extension or use instrument headphones with a long cable, then it's an A given the size and light weightVersatility: B- (no mac or PC)Durability: Unsure. hardly use it given the above, but it's held up being transported in my hardshell guitar case and my gig bag.Note: I haven't tried playing it through my actual amp yet, but have read that for all versions that can distort the sound if your cab can't handle the frequencies the program puts out. Might be worth sending support an inquiry with your particular setup if that is your intention. Also FYI amplitube is not transferrable from android to PC/iphone, etc, so if you want the plug ins on both, you have to buy them for both.

Great Purchase on a Budget
Took me a second but was relatively easy to set up. Sound quality was good for the price and compact and easy to use anywhere.

Despite advertising, DOES NOT WORK with iPad Pro and IK does not respond to support tickets.
Advertised as an adapter to be used with an iPad or iPhone. On an iPad Pro with a USB-C audio connector to the iRig2, the sound is extremely distorted with a strong warble and an echo. No settings change this. I have reached out to IK Multimedia for support but after five days and multiple attempts to contact them, there is absolutely no response from their support team.I would rate this zero stars if that were possible. Do not buy this if you want to use it with an iPad - It just DOES NOT WORK.
