It says flavorful on the jar, what flavor is that?

It might be liver flavor. Here are the ingredientsWheat flour, Corn syrup, Glycerin, Vegetable oil, Stabilized rice bran, Spray dried liver powder stabilized with BHA, Propyl gallate, Citric acid, Dried corn syrup, Lecithin, Dried cheese, Fish oil, Natural flavors, Salt, Sorbic acid, Calcium propionate to preserve freshness, Brewers dried yeast, Sodium acid pyrophosphate, and Rosemary extract.

Has anyone tried both this and tomlyn pill-masker? what's the difference?

I haven't tried the Tomlin but my guess is that they are similar. It's a product like the type of a caramel but you can easily pull a bit out of the jar and stick a pill in it. Most cats will eat it or at least the flavor helps a pill go down easier.A little goes a long way.

Bought this at the vet and the jar said "bacon flavored". I don't see that anywhere on this product. Is it the same?

Yes... it is the same. It actually says Bacon Flavor on top of the lid, which you can't see in the photo. I wondered the same thing as you... it smells good enough to eat! :-) It's wonderful!

Would this work with a tiny amount of powder? (Flea meds).

I am guessing you are talking about breaking open a capsule and pouring the contents on the pill wrap? You could definitely do that. It's very easy to mold. It reminds me of the wax they used to give you to put on the sharp wires when you had braces. The first time I used it I tried to pill my cat. He cheeked the pill and, just as he was getting ready to spit it out, he ate it. From that point forward, I sit near him, let him get a whiff of it, and he approaches and takes it out of my hand like a treat. This stuff is magic!!! I don't know if it will mask the taste of really vile meds but it certainly took the stress out of giving him antibiotics for the past week!
