What You Need to Know about Project Management Paperback – February 7, 2011

I really enjoy Fergus O'Connell's down to earth way of thinking. I am a PM and have been in the construction business for about 20 years and still get a lot of help from this book. A colleague of mine has it on his desk as his bible or reminder of what he should be doing. Not as in depth as some of the blocks of granite you can buy but still good enough to help you along.

This is a great book. Just like the title says, it is all about just what you need to know. I have read it a couple times just to refresh on everything that I need to remember when running projects or talking to others about theirs.

I think this book is interesting and useful not only for project managers.

Great read. Short, sweet and the the point! Spells out exactly what steps to take for all key PM tasks. Lots of additional references for further reading.

This is the most rational approach to project management that I have ever had the privilege to listen to. Fergus O'Connell explains best approaches to solving many of the problems that occur to a project manager when planning and executing a project.

Briliant book, very to the point with lots of side reading and great tips, written in an easy, captivating manner.

Excellent guide for team leaders transitioning to a PM role.

Great book to read, either as an introduction to project management for beginner or as a nice refresher for veteran project manager.

When drowning, the basics count: I guess more for the bewildered or inexperienced than well-seasoned PMs looking for that 1% improvement factor, but I enjoyed it and took from it enough to keep paddling!

I first listened to the audio version...I quickly realized that this is a must have in everyone's library who is involved in management at any level.

Generally a good guide for the beginner, useful for my students- we're ordering more!

I had to get up to speed quickly on project management and bought this initially on Audible, then bcos it seemed good I bought paperback and kindle versions for ease of reference. Clearly written, good tips that help me understand what I need to do: why & how. Good further reading tips as well

Good practical read. Highly recommend for all project managers. I may need a little more convincing on the level of detail in the planning. When I have tried this level the maintenance of the plan became quite onerous
