.50 inch - Perfect size for Little Booklets & Many Other Projects
I bought the .50 inch rings. Some of these were real easy to open, some a little hard to open, and so far 1 has broken when I opened it. These are perfect for the little booklets I have made my child. As you can see in the picture, I used coins to give you a relative size of these rings. For the price, even if a few of these were to break - still worth it to me. The black grid lines are 1 inch squares by the way (just ignore the stains on my work table).I have also bought the 1.5" rings and I'm including a picture of those as well.

~70% of these ½" rings are usable...
... so, if you think of it as a box of 70, rather than 100, then it is still not a bad buy for ~70 ½" rings... ...the primary defect is poor quality control in the hinge/riveting process, as about 30 have a hinge misalignment, such that the locking teeth do not meet to close & lock OR are so tight, you can not open them (by hand)... so, ~30 went into the trash. however, 70 are solid, good quality rings (which look and perform identical and very well) and here are some specific positives; • excellent, well-done, bright nickel plating (for all 100). • firm/tight hinge, with an easy, smooth movement (for ~ 70%). • very strong lock...so, no worries of an opening binder ring (for ~ 70%).again, an ok product, if you think of it as a 70 count box, rather than a 100 count ... as such, a fair deal & pleased with those 70,Thank you.

Happy for the most part.
After reading both good and bad reviews, I decided this was still the best option for a Sunday School craft project. I got 100 rings in the box, I actually used 78 of them, one had a broken hinge, and the remaining 21 rings I have not opened yet or used. I could open about half with my fingers, and the other half I had to use a set of pliers in each hand to pop them apart before spreading them open (it seems the chrome coating is actually sticking on them). Once open, they worked great. For the price (12.5 cents per ring), I expected some flawed pieces. I was pleasantly surprised that there was only one that is a total loss. You get what you pay for, and I was happy with my purchase. I wish they all opened with my fingers and didn't need pliers.

These small rings are great, but beware of several issues!
These small 1/2 rings are great, but be aware of several issues:1) They're VERY hard to open! I wound up using a special pair of plastic-tipped needle-nosed pliers, similar to these:https://www.amazon.com/Bead-Buddy-Nylon-Flat-Pliers/dp/B002PNNSX6/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=plastic+tipped+pliers&qid=1588947045&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&sr=8-13&swrs=5DE7CF05F8C8DD8841D3A2C606BEEE68,that I bought from Amazon months ago to help me open them.2) If you open them too wide, they loosen so much that they're ruined, & won't re-close!3) Because of #1 & #2 above, be prepared to "trash" several rings as you use them.HOWEVER, aside from the problems stated above, I plan to keep them. They're perfect for my needs, and because you get a 100 of them in a box, I figure that I can afford to trash a few as long as the other ones work fine.Highly recommended, as long as you're aware of the issues.

These were loose and easy to open, if you are looking for that quality, buy them.
I have purchased this exact size of ring and style from other vendors...At the time, these particular rings were more affordable and available so I ordered...Previous rings from other vendors were very difficult to open, thus, I needed pliers...but they worked well and were shiny metal and possibly coated. These were quite the opposite. These rings are not shiny, they are dull...you think it won't matter, until you see how unattractive it looks in comparison to the very bright, shiny metal rings....But that aside means nothing compared to their function...I found that these are all LOOSE, which means that they are extremely easy to open, and could possibly open or unlatch when I don't need them to. I didn't need pliers to open these, which means that some were too loose. I read other comments talking about this subject but didn't understand the issues they were complaining about until I had experienced both types....A few of these rings had to be thrown out because I cannot close these at all, I tried hammering them, or bending but the steel is not malleable in that way...I was turned off by this characteristic, but have not had any fail yet...I have hundreds of these in use from other brands, but only 20 from this batch...only time will tell. Just misc. info: I use these for a needlework hobby and they only carry a few ounces of weight on each ring.

60 percent for me
Is there some trick to getting these open? Out of a box of 100 I received:5 were so loose that they wouldn't stay closed,35 were hard to open, meaning either stiff and time-consuming to open, or I couldn't open them at all,60 were easy to open and clicked securely closed. The company name on the box says Sparco, if that's any clue.

I wouldn't buy again
The majority are very difficult to open. I used two staple removers to help bend in opposite directions to open them. It was time consuming because how hard they were to open and sometimes hard to close. I will need to purchase more in the future, butI don't think I'll purchase again due to the price and value. I've used at least 40 of them so far and only one was unusable. Even with the use of the staple removers to help open them, my fingers were left sore. I'm using these for laminated flash cards so I do hope these last.

Rings hard to open or don't stay closed
I am a teacher and make a lot of little books for my students to read and keep. I needed small rings to keep these books together so the pages turn easier than if the books were stapled. In a box of 100, probably 1/3 of them don't open and another 1/3 come open easily - don't stay closed as they should. That doesn't leave that many to use for the books when you need 2-3 per book. I am looking to find another place to order from and hopefully get more that work. I have also ordered the bigger sizes and the same thing happens. I would not recommend these from this company. Also the price has doubled since I last purchased these Oct, 2015. Shop around!!

Perfect size!
Delivered quickly. The size is perfect for my little book. The only downside is like others said, they are hard to open.I had to use pliers to open most of them (and some of them were impossible to open) so I won't break my nails. But overall I'm satisfied with my purchase!

Good size, poor quality
Size is right, but poor quality: about 1 ring in 3 cannot be opened.

Great value for quantity
Great price for the amount purchased. These are used in a classroom for word wall words. They stay closed and the ring is the perfect diameter to fit through a single hole punch in the word wall cards.
