Easy-to-Set Deadset Mole Trap and Killer - M9015 - Trap and Kill Moles Outdoors

Bought this on Nov 21st and trapped the mole on the 28th. With the weather being cold the mole had not been as active. i was able to set the trap and view from the window if it had been triggered or not. I had originally planned on purchasing one of these from a local store but they were all out. They had one of the out of sight, jaw/scissor traps so i bought one of those and tried for two months to catch this mole. As it turns out those traps are no longer sold with the super strong spring that they used to come with. That trap essentially cant power through any dirt and i am fairly confident my mole had wriggled away from the trap at least twice. Not anymore. As i was used to using the other style of trap i was already aware that my mole liked to tunnel deeper. So i chose a tunnel that i knew was a frequent path. I used a garden trowel to dig down and find the correct depth for the spikes to cover the entire height of the tunnel. Place the posts of the trap so they straddle the path direction and the spikes will come down across the tunnel path. I packed the dirt down underneath the center of the trap so when the mole digs the path open again he presses the dirt up into the trigger. The main thing with this trap is to make sure you trigger it and reset it multiple times to make sure the spikes are able to travel freely into the ground when tripped. You can also adjust the trigger closer to being tripped if you need to make it more sensitive. It took me two attempts to get my mole because i messed up and placed the trap on a tunnel path that was a corner, to the mole triggered it but the spikes missed because he came from the other direction (from the side).

Buyers beware. Do not purchase these traps. I bought two of them. At first, they worked. I was able to set each trap about twice. After that, I noticed they were no longer being triggered. I moved them to different locations. That is when I discovered they would not set at all. When I pulled the handle and tried to set the activator plate, the catch would not release. It stayed lodged behind the frame. No matter what I did, I could not get it to come out. I contacted Victor to ask how to release the catch. Instead of troubleshooting the issue, they immediately offered to send two replacements. I did not even request new ones. I only wanted help fixing the problem. This was great customer services. When the replacements arrived, I tested them right away. Both had the exact same issue. I could not set either trap. This product is unreliable. Save your money.

I like that these are easier to use than there metal counter parts, but they are not as durable. The metal ones can be difficult to work with, but I have gotten quite good with them and prefer them over this version. I bought this one because they are easier to set, but the design decision to create the legs out of plastic was a poor decision. While the ability to step on the foot pegs and shove the trap deeper into the ground is nice compared to the metal ones, it has a chance to snap the plastic legs which is what happened to me. We have had a lack of rain were I live and the ground has been quite hard. Plastic legs do not go well into the hard dry ground. One of the legs has broken off with no good way to reattach it. I am still able to use the trap with one leg, but if the other pops off it will be useless.

Really happy with this product. I said it in our front lawn we ran a quick errand and as we were driving up on the way home I noticed that it had been triggered. We were gone for about 45 minutes tops and the only problem is I dug up what was underneath it and it was still squirming I think it was a mole or shrew it’s pretty big and ugly anyways I had to go upstairs grab my pellet gun and put a 177 in it. It was really easy to use the only problem is it’s set the first time I pulled it up and then the second time it wouldn’t sat and got jammed and then I finally got it to set and we got our kill I would definitely try this verse is that old other one that’s made of metal because the metal bends too easily.

I bought two last year for my mole problem and used them for weeks with no results. I ended up having to sit outside with a spade waiting for the ground to move like a complete weirdo. I’m sure my neighbors thought I had lost my mind. But this had become a true Caddyshack moment between me and this mole. It was personal. Totally destroyed my entire front lawn and my garden beds. Ended up getting it with my shovel. This year another mole showed up and in five days almost completely ruined all of my annuals and started in on my lawn again. I bought two more traps. I identified where they were coming out from underneath the porch and their main tunnels that fed the secondary tunnels. About two hours after setting all four traps, one had tripped and my cat was standing over it staring intently. I could hear the spring twitching. I dug it up with a shovel and there it was, clinging to life. These things are solid pieces of equipment, well designed. Don’t get cheap knock offs, you get what you pay for. It comes down to this; if you only have a couple traps, you better know where they are coming from otherwise they will just make more tunnels and go around them. I hate to sound like a salesman, but you need to have multiple traps to catch the moles in the act. They work too quickly for single or few traps. But if you compare this to the hundreds of dollars I spent on annuals this year, and the hundreds of dollars it took me to repair my lawn last year, these traps are the best money I’ve ever spent. Also, make sure to set them deep enough or the moles just sneak out under them. These traps work perfectly if you know what you’re doing but you have to find the tunnels they use.

Having used conventional traps with varying success I purchased one of these traps. It was delivered, I set it up following the online advice from other users and the next morning the trap had gone off and I had caught the culprit. The trap is effective as you don’t have to disturb the mole’s run to set it up.

Tried to set it but the mechanism wouldn't work. Even had an exterminator try it and he couldn't get it to arm it. I don't recommend this Victor M9015 Deadset Mole Trap, Black. If I could have left no star I would have.

Le piège, placé au-dessus du trou de la taupe n'a pas empêché cette dernière de faire une belle taupinière sous le piège. Ce piège ne serait-il pas plutôt un piège pour l'acheteur ???

Received on Saturday, afternoon and within a few hours got my mole. Paid for itself very quickly!!!
