Good coffee but not the freshest
If I find a fresh one, I'll definitely give it 5 stars.

Roasted fourteen months ago!
The roast date on this bag is December 12, 2022. That's fourteen months ago! There are only two possibilities here. Pellini either knowingly shipped me stale coffee, or they shipped it not knowing it was stale. Neither of these options are acceptable. (A friend of mine says "In Italy they would put you in jail for that.") Because Pellini is a family owned company ("now at its fourth generation") I never imagined they would sell coffee that is "best by" two years after the roast date. Do you think the Pellini family serves their family and friends stale espresso? I doubt it. It can't be returned, so I'm stuck with it. I'm glad I didn't buy a kilo.

Roasted six months ago.
My guess is that this has nothing to do with Pellini, and everything to do with Amazon buying in bulk and letting the bags sit. If you want fresher beans—and you know you do—order from Espresso International. It’s a little more because of shipping, but it comes from Germany. The bag I just got was roasted three weeks ago. You also get the shipment in three days!
