Original Hoberman Sphere

I bought it for the summer block party, and someone took it, so the kids must have liked it.

What fun! When I took it out of the box, I was skeptical about being a good toy but when the grandchildren visited my mind was instantly changed. The 4 yr. old boy was just as delighted with this as was his 2 y/o brother. I wish I hadn't presented it to them together because sharing was impossible and not a back and forth catch game I naively anticipated. This is a durable toy that will offer hours of entertainment.

The product seems well made and is interesting for adults from an engineering perspective. For children it's use is up to the individual. I bought this for an autistic relative and the toy promoted interaction between us that had us giggling. How big, how little could it get, make your own sounds while expanding it, pretend to get your arm stuck in it... Use your imagination and I think this is a good toy to promote interaction. I don't know what the age recommendation is but would keep it to older children

This toy was purchased by me for my work as a child and family therapist. In teaching relaxation to children this toy allows me to illustrate deep breathing with a fun visual aid that will keep the kids paying attention and allow them to place their hands on something at the same time. This is often important when teaching children. They tend to be easily distracted and uninterested in learning some of the skills that are needed for their treatment. This toy expands out and I use this to talk about breathing in deeply and filling your lungs up with air. When breathing out the ball can then be contracted and go back to normal size. The kiddos are fascinated with the colors and how big it can get and it provides some sensory feedback and "hands on" work that I find is so helpful when engaging children in skill building. Even if it wasn't used for this purpose its very amusing and fun to look at and play with for all ages.

I used this to teach children about dynamics in music for years. I recently upgraded to a larger model, which helps illustrate a wider dynamic range, but this smaller one is a nice, portable, budget-friendly option.

I bought this for my grandkids after seeing other kids their age play with it. I had to pay to send it from the USA to New Zealand, but it was worth it. They love it.

This sphere is beautiful, vibrant and tons of fun! It has been sturdy enough to withstand many hours of rowdy play with a house full of boys ranging from 4 to 16 with absolutely no issues. I am very pleasantly surprised. It was actually larger than I anticipated and that has been a bonus. My kids have climbed inside the ball, played catch with it, rolled it down the driveway, used it to catch other objects, walked around with it as a crown on their heads..... endless possibilities!l The sphere arrived on time, well packaged and in perfect condition. I would highly recommend it for both kids and adults.

I saw this at a wedding held in a private school. The kids went wild for it so bought one for each of our 2 toddler grandsons. They loved it, their parents loved it and the adult cousins love it!! It made it through Christmas intact after being thrown in the air, rolled on wood floors, tossed back and forth and bounced on the floors and used as a house, a hat, a space helmut!!

This is a great product. My 7 year old got it for Christmas and loves playing catch with it and did so with a group of 5 kids. The ball survived what would have been rough play. It is built well and is the brand name product. This product also works well as a tool to teach mindfulness. Use it to teach a child to be mindful of their breathing, expanding the ball ask you ask the child to breath, and contract the ball as they expel their breath, and so on. Or use it yourself for meditation and relaxation the same way.

This sphere is great and well made. I use it in my classroom to help kids with breathing in and out during our yoga/mindfulness circles. It's a good size for their small hands and easy to move in and out for the deep breath in and out exercise. Definitely would recommend!

Absolutely love this! It expands even bigger Than I expected. High quality built. Use it for calming, relaxation, breathing strategies with my students with special needs.
