Perfect
These are exactly what I ordered and what I was expecting. Nice, strong material, smoother than I would have assumed for wool, but I don't know wool very well. I think I wrapped them correctly and am very happy with my purchase!

Good product with slight downside
These putties are the real deal. Mine had (and still have) a slight odor, so I washed them and air them out occasionally and store them in a sealed bag. Worth the money, though, and much better than a pair I bought from an eBay seller, which had a much stronger odor (perhaps a disinfectant?). I wore them in a WWI I reenactment, but they would also be great to wear when shoveling snow or hiking. Very warm. The beauty of wool is that it will keep you warm even when wet.

Good enough
It's a good product so far. Learning to wrap the legs well takes practice. I like this item so far for its thickness and helping keep my shin from being banged so often. Guaranteed to bring with while camping to test some more.

Exactly as shown
These pair of patties are designed to wrap around your lower legs as seen in World War 1 documentaries. I bought them for a cosplay design to make myself look authentic for Battlefield 1

warreplica WW1 US Army Putties / M1910 Leggings Wraps work well for me
These replica putties probably wouldn't satisfy a purist re-enactor but I like them a lot. I'm not a re-enactor. I use them for the purpose for which they were originally intended, keeping crap out of my boots and out of my trousers. They wrap better than I had anticipated. I had watched several Youtube videos about "real" putties and knock off putties. The knock offs generally don't wrap well, and don't have the regular looking spacing and even-ness that "real" ones do. This product I can wrap well, without weird lumps or uneven-ness. I haven't had to use the trick I saw on Youtube about twisting the roll over to make the wrap lie flat.I use them while doing yard work and they are superb at keeping all the detritus out of my boots and trousers. I was surprised that leaves and twigs and other small things and dirt don't stick to the material. I had anticipated that the material would act like velcro and that I would be spending time getting the stuff off the putties once done with the yard work.I was surprised that this hasn't been so. So far, almost nothing has stuck to them. The one drawback is that of course, they hold in the heat. I live in New Mexico. I try to do the yard work in the early mornings before it becomes blazing saddles. But I'd rather have warm legs than all the bits of twigs and leaves and pine needles in my boots, on my socks and up my trouser legs. Now that I've been using them a bit, I can see why the soldiers of that period liked them. They provide some leg compression and support. They are comfortable. When wrapping, if you draw up the pant legs, then the pants are more comfortable around the thighs and pelvis, and freedom of movement is provided.I just got them this year (2021). Along with the yard work for which I'm currently using them, I'm thinking I'll wear them in late autumn when hiking out in our forests. I might even wear them under my waterproof gaiters while snowshoeing.

The Smell
The quality of the putties are legit, material is authentic, the smell is definitely there. It’s quite the stench so be warned when opening these things. Definitely couple washes to get that smell out. That’s the one thing I have to say is the smell of a sheep, hence the wool

Perfect for their intended use as warm woolen leg wraps
These are very long, almost too long for me and my 30-inch inseam (they only go on your lower legs, but I wanted to give a comparison measure). They work *great* for my medieval reenactment group use as Scandinavian leg wraps. They are extra warm because I can wrap them closely with so much length, and they tie off or tuck in well to stay up very well through an all-day event. I love that they are washable wool - I don't have to worry about them holding onto mud stains or letting dampness seep through easily. I will use these a lot, was I live in a climate that has snow and ice or cold rain for half the year. They are perfect for what they are!
