Love this game. Easy to learn the rules, but will take a few plays before you figure out the best scoring strategies. My husband and play this many days after work when there is limited time. Highly recommend. Laminate your boards or you'll go through the pad quick!

Wow! Who would have thought that a Roll and Write game could be this rich with Strategy? There is so much to think about - so many options, and that is exactly what makes this game so fun. There are so many choices that each player gets TWO sheets that are laid out side by side.The game is highly thematic and due to the fact that there is so much going on, it can be difficult to remember to take all of the bonuses and effects that you have coming to you. I look at that as both a Positive and a Negative. It's good because all of that makes it such a strategic game, but it's bad because you can really do yourself in if you don't remember to reap your rewards.This is not a game where you sit around watching each player in turn. Everyone is engaged on every turn. There are a number of "pricey" add-ons that can be ordered for this game, but they are worth it if you love the overall theme. I haven't played the card game yet, but I have heard that this is much better.So, if you have an interest in the ocean and fishing, you can easily get caught up in this game. Even if you don't, there is so much to do, you can't help but like it.

Great for solo play. I agree with Beyond Solitaire, the rule book could be a little clearer, but finally got it and now it goes quickly. I even used the Captain cards that came with the game even though the rules do not address it. The trophy cards obviously will not work for solo. It plays quickly and I usually do two games at a time and use both sides of the paper. I am contemplating trying to do two-handed, i.e. four pieces of paper in front of me. Challenging to keep track of though.

It a bit more involved than most roll and write games, but that's what I wanted. Easy to teach. Difficult to master. So many options that you may believe you are doing well only to learn that someone else did best. Love it. Lots of people want to platy again after each first lesson.

Great solo game

enjoyable with a reasonable amount of protection against bad dice rolls. I'll need more plays to find out if there are dominant spaces that you would always go for on the right side of the sheet. A good, simplified version of the original (even if I prefer the original).

This game is fantastic. It is easy to learn, and addicting to play because you want to try different strategies. The theme is fun and the game play is simple. However, the simplicity does not make for boring game play but rather it makes it easy to introduce and move through it.

Got this for a family gift for Christmas and we love it! We are a board game family and this was unlike any other game we have. I wasn’t sure of the theme at first, but it totally works and we can wait to play again! Also love that it has a solo mode. Highly recommend it!
