This is one of the best albums the Megadeth ever came out with back in the day highly recommended to anybody who likes Megadeth it is a must have and it is definitely one of the first albums I ever used to introduce Megadeth to a younger generation great album he got very political in this album and I liked his thought process and what he had to say in this album highly recommended to anyone who likes heavy metal

Tracks like “Hangar 18” and “Tornado of Souls” (featuring what many consider Friedman’s magnum opus of a solo) are intricate without ever being indulgent, heavy without losing melody, and politically and socially charged without sounding preachy. Even deep cuts like “Take No Prisoners” and “Five Magics” pack enough riffage and tempo changes to fuel entire albums for lesser bands. Lyrically, Mustaine blends dystopian paranoia, militaristic imagery, and sci-fi weirdness into a strangely coherent worldview that perfectly suits the manic energy of the music. Whether he’s calling out corrupt institutions or imagining alien conspiracies, he does it all with a snarl and a sneer that’s unmistakably his. With Nick Menza’s thunderous drumming and David Ellefson’s tight bass lines anchoring the madness, the entire band is locked in with clockwork precision, yet they never lose that vital sense of danger that defines classic thrash. Rust in Peace is not just Megadeth’s crowning achievement—it’s one of the greatest metal albums of all time. It’s the gold standard for technical thrash, an album that bridges aggression with artistry, fury with finesse. Perfectly paced, flawlessly executed, and eternally relevant, it doesn’t just stand the test of time—it shatters it.

The best Thrash Metal album of all time? Yes, probably so! There were other great ones before, but first does not necessarily mean the best. This album is great from start to finish with no weak songs at all! (Although I consider Dawn Patrol as an intro into Polaris and not a song by itself). The riffs and solos on this album are just amazing! And just to let everyone know, the copy I received (LP in June 2025) IS the original 1990 version, not the weird 2004 remaster.

I first heard Megadeth on "Countdown To Extinction" which still is my favourite album of theirs but prior to the well-deserved "sell-out" that led to their lucrative payday "Rust In Peace" took thrash metal to another dimension crucially because of the addition of new but brilliant guitarist Marty Friedman. Dave Mustaine having once been associated with Metallica which I believe to be the greatest metal band ever with Iron Maiden coming in a close second I guess continued comparisons between the two "M"s are inevitable and to me "Rust In Peace" is to "Ride the Lightning" as "Countdown To Extinction" is to "The Black Album" and just as in "Ride the Lightning" it took me a few listens to better appreciate the work it took a few listens for me to realise just how good "Rust In Peace" is at least musicianship-wise; I still don't like much of Mustaine's lyrics and really singing about alien conspiracies leaves me cold when I compare that with the more meaty and real-life meaningful lyrics of the vast majority of Metallica's pre-"Load" of crap albums. Still, this is a very good thrash album and fans are in for a treat here in this the mini-lp replica sleeve (mlps) version of the album. The mlps design in itself isn't that great as I've seen much better designs and overall assembly but the inner jacket sleeve is well done coming with an insert with all the lyrics in both English and Japanese but most importantly with a short write-up by Dave Mustaine himself about the album which was a nice treat. The all important sound quality is very good having been adequately remastered for an improved sound over the original cd release. The bonus tracks also add to the overall enjoyment of the album not being mindless afterthought fillers: 10. My Creation 11. Rust In Peace...Polaris (Demo) 12. Holy Wars...The Punishment Due (Demo) 13. Take No Prisoners (Demo) While I enjoyed the tracks on the next album a lot better I have to admit that overall musicianship-wise as an all-out thrash album this is not only Megadeth's best album but it is also among the top 20 metal albums of all time and would rank even higher if the lyrics on some tracks were stronger. Still it is no accident that both this and "Countdown ..." are my favorite Megadeth albums and that Marty Friedman played his ass off on both albums; what a great guitarist! Ok mlps design, very good content and good sound quality makes this an easy review. Recommended!

This isnt the remaster but still does the job. The copy I got was a black vinyl so don’t expect anything special despite the description.

Da ich seit dem ich metalmusik höre von anfang Metallica fan war hielt ich aufgrund deren Biographie niemals auch nur das geringste von Megadeth. Als ich jedoch eines Tages durch meine playlist zappte aber alles an mir vorbei ging weil ich schon jedes lied in und auswendig kannte sehnte ich mich nach etwas neuem. Nur durch zufall bin ich auf youtube über Holy Wars...The Punishment Due gestolpert. Jede einzige Sekunde hat mich an diesem Song gefesselt. Und dieser war kein eizelfall. Hab mir dirket danach die Restlichen Songs reingezogen und musste sagen dieses album überzeugt von a-z. Daraufhin hab ich mir dieses Album gekauft un nach mehrmaligen durchhören wurde klar dass sich Megadeth jetzt definitiv zu meinen beiden Lieblingsbands dazugesellen konnte, welche keine geringeren waren als Metallica und Slayer Nun zum Album an sich. Es ist hart schnell und durchdacht. Texte sind Politisch und Sozial kritisch. Die Platte klingt auf jedenfall durchdachter und sauberer als deren Vorgänger, was wohl an der besseren Produktion liegt. Es bleibt aber trotzdem rotziger Thrash. Die komplexität der gitarrenriffs und solos wird um einiges gesteigert. Solos werden auch eins nach dem anderen Vorgeführt siehe "Hangar 18" dass zu 2/3 nur aus solos besteht. Der Wahnsinn dieser Song. "Holy Wars" glänzt vor innovation. Es ist verdammt abwechslungsreich. Man siehe nur das Solo, dass Holy Wars und The Punishment Due verbindet. Und wo cih shon bei solos bin. Das Solo von Holy Wars kurz vor schluss fegt einfach nur so über alles andere weg. Ein absloutes Hammersolo. Die ersten beiden Tracks sind zweifelohne die besten und können ohne Probleme Songs wie "Master of Puppets" oder "Angel of Death" mithalten. Die meisten anderen Songs des Albums liegen aber nur knapp dahinter. Z.B. "Tornado of Souls" oder "Take no Prisoners" Schande über mich, dass dieses Meisterwerk all die Jahre an mir vorbei ging.^^ Fazit: Thrashkunst vom allerfeinsten. Sollte in keiner Metalsammlung fehlen

I absolute Love it , its greatest megadeths album , But id recommend buying it in rust in peace & countdown to extinction duo cuz its cheaper that way

Top album! Mustaine at his best along with superb, technical double bass drumming and riffs & solos that are sublime! A must for thrash fans.
