What a great little gadget
This was a gift, but I've read the other reviews and some I agree with others I don't. This is great for some like me who lives alone and cooks for one in that it lets me store surplus food for later use even freezing. Therefore I no longer have to fiddle around trying to adjust recipes. Usually when you cook and then try to freeze the extra portions you loose a lot of the taste when you reheat, regardless of how you do it. With the vacuum sealing of this little machine that doesn't happen so much. I like to cook from scratch as ready meals always seem to have to much salt in them or are to sweet. Plus I know whats in it. I've found this very easy to use with the bonus of being able to dictate just how much air is sucked out by hitting the vacuum button a 2nd time once started. So some foods don't get squashed or crushed like they would if you let the vacuum take it's full course. You do ofcourse have to press the seal button to finish the process. The clips at each end have only been a problem once and that was because I forgot to pull the vacuum release button and they wouldn't release properly. Now I tend to give it a moment or two before I attempt to release them and it works everytime. It's a learning curve. I was given two extra rolls of the sealing bag material at the same time. One is extra wide and the other the same width as the larger bags that came with the machine. This is great as it means I can be very flexible on the size of things I want to preserve. I can cut then to what ever length I need, seal one end, add the contents, then seal or vac and seal the other end. I used it for cooked rice, curry, soup, fresh meat and so on, as well as dried goods into seperate portions that will stay fresh for later. I also use it to store fresh cut herbs from my garden for use when not in season. In the summer I'm hoping to use it for my own grown fruit and veg rather than have to give some away because there's no room in the freezer. I'm sure I'll find other uses for it that aren't food related as well. I don't know how this compares to other more expensive machines, but it does all I need it to do and am very thankful to the person who gave it to me. I love it.

Great little machine
Perfect for the price, I had an issue where it wasn’t pulling a vacuum after the third go. If you have this issue press down the pressure release valve just by placing a finger on it and that will resolve the issue. I think after I pulled it up (to allow air back in and release it) that it didn’t go down correctly. Not really a product problem as I should have been more attentive and it works great for the price so 5 stars from me. Definitely worth the purchase.

Got this to give it a go
Got this for £20 with some bags and it is super, super good for freezing meat and alike, two or three months in the freezer and coming out exactly the same as it went in, depending on what it is, your wouldn’t even know it’s been frozen, handy for sealing up half and onion in the fridge too, keeps well and doesn’t taint everything in the fridge, much more useful that I thought. Dropped a star because it’s a bit hit and miss sometimes when it comes to pulling all the air out, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t, it works, never had a bag not seal, just sometimes it doesn’t seem to suck as hard as others. TLDR: Not sure you will use it, get this cheap one, when it breaks, get a better one, or not.

Very happy with this little machine! Recommend!
I’ve had one of these years ago! For the price it’s excellent value! I don’t notice a lot of suction, but I squeezed the air out as it was working, which I didn’t mind, as I seem to remember with my old one, the suction would distort the shape! I was putting a loaf of bread in the freezer, so was glad that it didn’t distort it’s shape or squash it. I’d recommend buying some larger bags, or in my case I’ve ordered 2 rolls of bags, one at 300 cm and one at 600 cm. the bags it came with were small, probably fit a sandwich in, another good reason for liking that the suction wasn’t too aggressive! Very easy to work, just ensure you press down evenly on both sides of the machine and when you hear it click, then press the button for it to start, and it just shuts off when finished!

Keeps meat fresh.
Bought this for my pet snake. Hear me out. My snake eats African Multimammate Mice. Multis are really quite expensive and can't be bought in most pet shops, so I order online. Shipping for frozen food is upwards of £10 a pop so I have to buy packs of 10 for it to be economical. Snakey eats two every two weeks. After 3 feeds (4 weeks), mice start to get freezer burn in their original packaging and snake quite understandably turns his nose up. So I bought this vacuum sealer so I would be able to store them in portions and hopefully no longer have to throw away 2/5 of a bag every couple of months (about £16 worth of dead exotic mouse including shipping). It works perfectly, snake hasn't refused a single feed since I bought it and bonus: the sealed bags make it really easy to defrost and warm the food sous-vide style. It's paid for itself already. I am very happy with this purchase. (I'm sure it would work very well on human food too.)

Don’t waste your money
Just no resilience, more faff than a help. It’s in the cupboard as the vacuum but has stopped working and opening and closing is a real issue.

Good but finicky
Initially a very good sealer, but after a few month the foam seals became worn & the little plastic hooks inside are fragile, soon what was once so easy & effortless, soon becomes a bit of an exercise in patience to ensure there's absolutely no wrinkles in the lip of the bag and just generally making sure everything is perfect or you'll end up with a small gap in the seal. But, it was affordable enough and taught me enough to get me into Souvide & vacuum sealing food for storage, in a pinch I still use it now as its quite compact, but I see no way this would hold up to frequent/heavy use for long.

pleased
This is a very good machine, compact, it is much better than a previous one [ different make] I purchased and had to return, does not take up too much room in the draw and always on hand. The plug fitment is good unlike other [which kept falling out] I use it a lot and its great that it will re seal packets like crisps etc. No waste of food.
