Weezer Green Album

Like the come back album from Weezer, this review will be short. At just over 28 minutes long, this album barely gives you the opportunity to get into before it's leaving the stage. And you have to listen to it a few times before the songs stop blending into a 28 minute stream of power chord pep. But that can be said of a lot of really good albums (the blending bit, not the pep bit). That being said, this album is true to Weezer's upbeat and fun loving pop sound. Hash Pipe, Photograph, Island in the Sun, Simple Pages and O Girlfriend have the power to distinguish themselves from the fold while the rest may have you singing along but most likely won't make it to your shower concert set list. Honestly, though, I am amazed (and pleasantly suprised) at how far Weezer has been able to push this sound. Overall, I am very pleased with this album only taking off points for length and a couple of duds. If they would have included Sugar Booger, it would be a five star for sure. On a side note, my fiance' and I will be doing our first dance to Island in the Sun. It should be pretty amusing.

This CD is a great musical enema for anyone who has forgotten the guilty joys of catchy, hook-laden, sub-three minute power pop tunes.The whole thing is like one long 28 minute hook that won't quit. As for the brevity of this collection (10 songs in 28 minutes)..hey, it lets you get back to the first song faster so you can hear the whole thing over again....definitely not a bad thing. Just when you think things may be about to slow down (the intro's to "Simple Pages" and "Glorious Days" sound a bit soft at first) off they zoom again into the stratosphere. Turn up the volume on this thing, and if anyone complains (your wife, girlfriend, sister or neighbors) just turn it up louder...to 11. Is there any new musical ground broken here?..no, but it's still a pleasure to hear that thick, clean guitar sound that is so absent from today's radio. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to hear Rivers stretch out a bit more on some of the solos.This goes to the top of my list for album of the year, with the Old 97's "Satellite Rides" a close second....another hook heavy power pop CD that doesn't quit from one song to the next. As for Weezer.....get Green!

I have no idea if it's good, it seems it was as it had no issues from out of the box. My cousin was happy that's all that matters.

Onestamente avevo perso un po' le tracce della band californiana che mi aveva folgorato qualche annetto fa con lo strepitoso disco d'esordio (anch'esso omonimo, ma dalla copertina azzurra) e convinto con "Pinkerton": ultimamente ho acquistato un paio di album e devo confessare che il tempo sembra quasi essersi fermato. Si carica il CD e se si ricordano alcune celebri hit tipo "Buddy Holly" (deliziosa, come il video) o "Tired of Sex" ogni possibile dubbio scompare: sono indiscutibilmente loro, con quel sound sghembo, scanzonato, quasi irriverente; un chiaro marchio di fabbrica che se da un lato ci restituisce un disco tutto sommato godibile, dall'altro lascia quel sapore di minestra riscaldata che, anche per l'assenza di canzoni che emergano chiaramente dalla media, fa sentire la mancanza di un percorso di crescita in questi 20 anni... Se volete un disco di indie rock "facile" e non impegnativo, allora questa è una scelta sicuramente valida: se non conoscete il gruppo, però, vi consiglio di rivolgervi ai primi album, dove troverete canzoni di livello superiore.
